Despite its repeated denials, newly unsealed invoices prove Planned Parenthood has profited off of the sale of aborted babies’ body parts and organs.
Even when condemning undercover videos that showed Planned Parenthood abortionists discussing the sale of “fetal tissue” from aborted babies, the abortion giant defiantly claimed it was being misrepresented. One Planned Parenthood Vice President brazenly stated: “Planned Parenthood has never, and would never, profit while facilitating its patients’ choice to donate fetal tissue for use in important medical research.”
And as you may recall from our trial updates, Planned Parenthood Federation of America and several of its affiliates even filed a lawsuit seeking to discredit and silence these investigative journalists, including a client of the ACLJ, who was a former board member of the Center for Medical Progress. During that trial, the evidence presented included an abortion doctor admitting that they used specific techniques during abortion procedures to keep certain baby organs intact, and another abortionist stating that she “wanted a Lamborghini” as compensation for the sale of those organs.
Despite Planned Parenthood’s public claims that it had nothing to hide, the abortion giant did everything possible throughout the case to hide evidence of its fetal tissue “donation” practices from the jury and the public. Unfortunately, the jury was instructed by the Court that the extent to which Planned Parenthood and its associates may have committed illegal and unethical acts was not relevant to the case. As a result, the jury actually sided with the abortionists, awarding a multi-million dollar judgment in the abortion giant’s favor. We will soon be appealing that decision.
Despite Planned Parenthood’s disingenuous denials, recently unsealed documents certainly appear to refute their claims of innocence. According to recent reports:
Recently unsealed invoices show that a Planned Parenthood affiliate charged a tissue company nearly $25,000 for fetal body parts from July through September 2012.
Planned Parenthood has publicly acknowledged that they were paid for fetal tissue but said that they were only reimbursed for costs. The organization has subsequently said they would no longer accept even reimbursements.
The three 2012 invoices show that Planned Parenthood Mar Monte billed StemExpress $24,940 over three months for sample collections of fetal organs and maternal blood. A year-long, renewable contract between the two entities that began April 1, 2010, laid out the terms of the agreement: $55 per fetal organ “determined in the clinic to be usable” and $10 per blood sample.
Planned Parenthood was paid for “usable” organs. It’s right there in black and white. It is sick. It’s immoral. And it’s illegal. These invoices support the investigative findings of both houses of Congress that Planned Parenthood and its associates committed numerous shocking and unconscionable criminal and illegal actions relating to the procurement and sale of fetal body parts. If they’re given a pass on this, what’s next?
This isn’t the first time that Planned Parenthood’s problematic relationship with facts has come back to haunt it. Remember when we told you that Planned Parenthood’s oft-repeated “statistic” that “as many as 5,000 women died every year before 1973” had no basis in actual fact? A Washington Post “Fact Checker” looked into the spurious claim and found that the real number of illegal abortion deaths reported by the CDC in 1972 was 39, nowhere near the “as many as 5,000.”
Now in the middle of a global health crisis, Planned Parenthood is twisting the truth yet again, calling elective abortions “essential” healthcare and demanding it be allowed to continue during the pandemic. Michigan’s governor—a Planned Parenthood ally—even made the bizarre statement that elective abortion is an essential “life-sustaining” treatment.
Fortunately, many states have included elective abortions in their orders to cease all non-essential medical procedures. Planned Parenthood has sued to block these orders in multiple states. In Texas, Planned Parenthood argued that elective abortions are a medical “necessity” that cannot possibly be put on hold until after the international pandemic has subsided.
Initially, a District Court sided with Planned Parenthood, issuing a Temporary Restraining Order (“TRO”) against Governor Abbott’s order, and allowing abortion clinics to continue their evil business as usual while many other elective procedures remain on hold. "This [ban] will place lives in jeopardy," said Alexis McGill Johnson, acting president and chief executive officer of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. "This is a distraction that Americans, including patients we serve in communities nationwide, cannot afford."
Not true. This ban and others like it across the country will save lives. Understandably, that’s not something Planned Parenthood is familiar with.
People are suffering and dying from COVID-19. Medical resources and personal protective equipment (PPE) are in short supply. Allowing Planned Parenthood to use up those masks, gloves, foot covers, hospital beds, etc. puts countless lives at risk. People who have never stepped foot near an abortion clinic could die as a result of allowing Planned Parenthood to keep performing abortions.
Fortunately, as we reported previously, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals saw the truth and agreed in part with our emergency amicus brief, vacating the lower court’s TRO. And the Eighth Circuit did the same.
But Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby are not backing down, and they are continuing to try to overturn these common sense abortion bans all over the country. The ACLJ will be there to fight them in case after case. As we recently told you, we filed TEN emergency amicus briefs across the country in a matter of weeks defending orders issued to stop abortions during this Coronavirus disaster.
We cannot let Planned Parenthood continue its abortion distortion, twisting and manipulating the truth, disregarding facts, and recklessly filing lawsuits to further its extreme abortion agenda. And we are actively fighting to overturn the California jury’s flawed verdict in our case against Planned Parenthood, and reveal the truth about the abortion industry’s ghoulish practices.

Pro-abortion-led states are demanding COVID-19 relief money from the federal government, despite the fact that they’ve been funneling a fortune to Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry. At a time where they should also be fighting to protect the lives of their residents, certain states and...
Despite federal laws meant to protect them, pro-life doctors and nurses are still being pressured and coerced into assisting in procedures they have moral objections to – like abortions – for fear of losing their jobs. The ACLJ is working diligently to defend their constitutional rights of...
The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) Friday filed a friend-of-the-court brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to put the Constitution itself ahead of its misguided pro-abortion precedents. As the ACLJ brief phrases it: [I]f fidelity to the Constitution is to be a hallmark of this Court as...
How does that saying go, “never waste a good crisis”? Well, certain Member States of the U.N. Commission on Population and Development are certainly heeding that advice and using every opportunity they can, including COVID-19-related crises, to push their radical pro-abortion agenda. On July 10th,
