Will Joe Rogan's Endorsement Impact the Election?
Listen tothis article
President Donald Trump just received a major endorsement on the eve of the election. Will Joe Rogan, the host of the biggest podcast in America (with more than 10 million listeners daily), help sway undecided voters? The endorsement came while Rogan promoted his recent interview with Elon Musk, owner of Tesla and X (formerly Twitter).
This raises the question: How much difference do celebrity endorsements make for either candidate? Will more voters actually pull the lever for a candidate because of their like and/or dislike of Rogan?
Rogan has an incredible reach with an audience that far exceeds the viewership of most mainstream media networks. Podcasts have obviously become much more popular in recent years, and both Harris and Trump went out of their way to do interviews on podcasts to reach different audiences. If candidates go on MSNBC or Fox News, they will likely speak to the choir. But by going on podcasts, the candidates have a chance to share their messages with more diverse audiences.
And just how big was Trump’s appearance on Rogan’s show? As of today, 45 million people on YouTube have listened to Rogan’s interview with Trump. So far, 80 million Americans have already voted in the 2024 presidential election. So it’s an astronomical number. For the record, Rogan gave Harris “an open invitation” to come on his show, but the interview never materialized.
All that to say, the truth is that celebrity endorsements don’t seem to move the needle that much. A YouGov article says that one in 10 Americans admits that a celebrity endorsement has caused them to think about a political issue differently. And even fewer Americans say that they voted for a candidate because of a celebrity’s support.
In fact, most Americans – 51% – are less likely to be a fan of a celebrity after they endorse a candidate. For these voters, the less they know about a celebrity, the better.
Most don’t need to hear their favorite singer’s viewpoint to formulate an opinion.
In the meantime, the ACLJ has been working in overdrive to defend election integrity for the last couple of weeks. Here’s a brief breakdown of all the work we’ve done to ensure that we have a free and fair election:
We filed an amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court to keep noncitizens off the voting rolls in Virginia. We are thankful that the Supreme Court Justices agreed with the arguments of our brief and rightfully allowed Virginia to remove the noncitizens from their voting rolls.
We filed our latest amicus brief at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to argue that Special Counsel Jack Smith should be disqualified from his prosecution of President Trump. His ongoing prosecution is clearly a political weaponization of the criminal justice system.
We’ve launched an Election Integrity Hotline to offer assistance to those who encounter trouble today. We are manning the hotline and ready to provide legal assistance.
We need your help to stop the far Left from interfering in our elections. Donations made are doubled to fund our fight to preserve election integrity – give today. Also, Election Day is today, but you can still join us in fighting against election interference. Visit our election integrity action page to sign our petition and get involved.
Many Americans are anxious right now about the election results. On today’s broadcast, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo offered some encouragement:
[Tomorrow morning] go to work. America has been around for 250 years. The Lord is still on the throne on Wednesday morning. Let’s make sure that those of us who work hard and have as our singular mission to make sure our children and our grandchildren live lives that are better than ours do everything we can today and make sure we vote and then allow these votes to be counted and watch the process unfold. After the polls close today, there’s not much that most of us can do, but I pray that this nation gets headed in a direction that delivers better outcomes than we’ve seen these last 3.5 years.
Regardless of what happens tonight, God is still on the throne. At the ACLJ, we pray that His will be done for America. Be sure to download our limited-time ACLJ Election Prayer Guide and pray for our nation during this time.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the possible impact of Joe Rogan’s endorsement of President Trump. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell analyzed the polls in battleground states.
