The newly reformed FBI is in the news yet again. Yesterday we covered current FBI Director Kash Patel blasting former FBI Director James Comey’s public criticism of his leadership. And today, FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino is making headlines with a major update.

Bongino told Fox News that the FBI is closing in on finding out who planted the 2021 pipe bombs in D.C. before the January 6 riots: “I want answers on this, and I’m pretty confident that we’re closing in on some suspects.” Bongino also blamed the Biden Administration for not solving the case: “We were told by partisan actors out there, this was the insurrection, the world was [going to] fall apart, and no one seemed to show any interest in this case.”

Since 2021, a lot of speculation has swirled over the pipe bombs that never actually detonated near the DNC headquarters and RNC headquarters. Though footage captured the perpetrator, they were never caught by the previous Administration. Instead, it focused on arresting more than 1,000 Jan. 6 rioters.

Patel and Bongino are determined to solve the pipe bomb case as well as find answers for the cocaine discovered at the Biden White House in 2023 and the source of the Dobbs leak in 2022. These cold cases have been reopened to return much-needed transparency and accountability to the DOJ.

The FBI’s refusal to investigate obvious crimes during the Biden Administration led to the erosion of the American people’s trust. It also helped spawn numerous conspiracy theories about a host of issues. The Patel-led FBI seeks to rebuild the public’s faith once again.

Of course, the FBI isn’t the only government agency undergoing massive changes. Elon Musk and his DOGE team shook up D.C., cutting over $175 billion in wasteful government spending. This week Musk stepped down from his special government post after 130 days.

Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10th), a far-Left Member of Congress, said that if the Democrats retake control of the House, then will seek subpoenas for Musk and his DOGE team. In other words, the far Left will utilize its lawfare tactic once again to take down a political opponent.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell reacted to the legal threat against Musk:

The Democrats seem to be irate and bothered by the fact that we’re trying to save money. They don’t want accountability. Just look at the spending that’s happened post-COVID, and you see that Washington, D.C., and the politicians there have ballooned spending. This is out-of-control spending, and so we need a disruptor like Elon Musk. We need somebody who says, No, stop spending and wasting. Again, we have a $37 trillion national debt. Washington, D.C., spends more than it has. And so, when you hear that cuts are coming or the sky is falling because of budget cuts, don’t believe it. What we [need are] people like Elon Musk who step up, who risk a lot, whose reputation is damaged because they get messy, and they get into the details, and they’re the ones who are cutting. You look at Donald Trump and Elon Musk – they both have lost money and damaged their reputations by trying to come in and control the bureaucracy in Washington and control government spending. Thank God we have both of them.

People like Musk are getting under the hood of the federal government and finding all the corruption and waste. Musk wants to help put America back on the right track financially. We need more disruptors like him.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino’s major update on the 2021 pipe bomb case. My brother, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow, called into the show from Budapest, Hungary, to update us on our European work. We also broke the news that the ACLJ just filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of Zach Knotts, a pro-life advocate who was unlawfully charged while advocating for the unborn outside an abortion clinic.
