Exposed: Left’s Lawfare Strategy
Listen tothis article
Is the far Left taking a page out of President Donald Trump’s playbook? With the Justice Department launching a probe into former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, filing charges against Judge Hannah Dugan in Wisconsin, and recently officially charging Rep. LaMonica McIver (NJ-10), many on the Left claim that the Trump Administration is committing lawfare.
Cuomo is upset that he’s being investigated for allegedly lying to Congress about the death toll in New York nursing homes during COVID-19. McIver is throwing a fit about what she claims was mere “oversight” – forcing her way into an ICE detention facility and assaulting a federal officer in the process. And the Wisconsin judge claims she is innocent for aiding and abetting the escape of a violent illegal alien.
McIver says she is facing “political intimidation” from the Trump Administration. Cuomo says the DOJ is committing “election interference” during his mayoral run. The far Left is banding behind Dugan, with notable voices like Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) claiming, “Trump’s arrest of Judge Dugan in Milwaukee has nothing to do with immigration. It has everything to do with [Trump] moving this country towards authoritarianism.”
How ironic is it that the far Left is saying President Trump is weaponizing the Justice Department after it used the same tactic during the 2024 presidential election? Undoubtedly, Trump was partly reelected because of the constant lawsuits being filed against him, leading to an eventual conviction. People saw through the politically motivated weaponization of the Biden DOJ, and they were tired of it.
However, Cuomo, Dugan, and McIver have much more substantiated, legitimate charges against them. They aren’t just theoretically manufactured. For example, McIver is on video breaking into an ICE center. Multiple witnesses were present during Dugan’s stunt. And the facts don’t appear to add up in Cuomo’s congressional testimony.
My co-host, Sekulow Executive Producer Will Haynes, showed us a fundraiser email he received. The far Left is using the McIver story to make a profit. Don’t forget that President Trump also made money while he was being politically targeted, selling mugs sporting his infamous mugshot. So McIver is resorting to the same tactic.
I worry that other radical Members of Congress will engage in bad behavior, just to use the spotlight to raise money. It’s a trend that must be stopped.
Will the American people buy what the far Left is selling? Only time will tell if they see through the far Left’s hypocrisy about lawfare. It’s not the weaponization of the government to enforce the law when actual crimes have been committed.
If you remember, the ACLJ began representing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard after the Biden Administration targeted her. Though she is a decorated veteran, Tulsi was placed on a terrorist watchlist (Quiet Skies) – likely for her history of taking down Vice President Harris in a presidential debate.
We launched a multipronged legal effort not only to defend Tulsi but to defeat the weaponization of government against conservatives, our military, and the free speech of all Americans once and for all. We submitted Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests to the TSA, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the DOJ, and the FBI, demanding answers about how and why Gabbard had been unconstitutionally targeted.
We demanded all DHS and TSA communication records connected to targeting Tulsi with these surveillance programs be turned over. We also demanded all their communications with the White House, the FBI, and DOJ officials about this too.
Tulsi’s targeting was a topic during a hearing yesterday involving DHS Sec. Kristi Noem. Sen. Rand Paul (KY) mentioned how federal air marshals were following Tulsi: “Just last night, I received the first set of records from the department regarding Tulsi Gabbard’s placement on the TSA Quiet Skies watch list.” For sure, Sen. Paul received the records simply because Sec. Mayorkas is no longer in charge.
Sen. Paul demanded that the Trump Administration continue to bring reform to the DHS. Sec. Noem assured Sen. Paul that DHS is undergoing a major overhaul. We applaud the Trump Administration’s willingness to root out the remaining Deep State actors operating in the shadows.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the far Left claiming that President Trump is weaponizing the Justice Department against his political enemies. My brother, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow, gave us an update on the ACLJ’s recent work in Washington, D.C., and our upcoming trip to Europe.
