Far-Left Judge Indicted by Grand Jury
Listen tothis article
Judge Hannah Dugan, who allegedly helped a violent illegal alien escape her courtroom, has been indicted by a federal grand jury. She still insists she is innocent of “knowingly conceal[ing] E.F.R., a person for whose arrest a warrant and process had been issued” and trying to “influence, obstruct, and impede the due and proper administration of the law under which a pending proceeding was being had before a department and agency of the United States.”
Again, the individual that Dugan allegedly helped escape had been arrested for ferocious crimes. “E.F.R.” refers to an illegal immigrant, Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, who was scheduled to appear in Judge Dugan’s court after being charged with three misdemeanors for domestic battery. He had allegedly punched his roommate 30 times and then hit the roommate’s girlfriend in the face. A third individual was also injured.
At the same time, a warrant was out for his arrest, and ICE planned to arrest him outside the courthouse. (Flores-Ruiz had already been removed from the U.S. in 2013.)
Dugan found out about ICE’s plans and confronted the ICE officials, insisting they needed a judicial warrant. Then she orchestrated for Flores-Ruiz and his attorney to escape out a back door. The federal authorities still quickly captured Flores-Ruiz. The truth eventually came out about the judge’s alleged aiding and abetting of his escape.
Judge Dugan will be back in federal court tomorrow, where she will enter a plea. We will keep you updated on this judge who has outrageously risked her career to help someone accused of beating a woman and hurting two others – all because of her hatred for President Trump’s border policies.
I also want to tell you about a big ACLJ victory for Zach Knotts, a pro-life advocate who was unlawfully cited while peacefully protesting outside an abortion clinic in Ohio. He and his wife, Lindsay, like many sidewalk counselors across the country, used a megaphone, which the Supreme Court has called “indispensable instruments of effective political speech” in the modern era, to advocate for the unborn.
Abortion clinic escorts retaliated by using umbrellas, whistles, and kazoos to harass and drown out their message. They also disgustingly yelled out violent threats at the Knotts. Despite all this, the Knotts found themselves unlawfully being cited by the police.
Last week, the ACLJ showed up at court to defend the Knotts. At the outset, the prosecutors tried to change their theory of the case – an 11th-hour maneuver that amounted to rewriting the charges on the spot. The ACLJ lawyers immediately objected.
The prosecution tried to have the trial rescheduled for a later date, but we insisted that our client had the right to a speedy trial, and justice shouldn’t be delayed. Following this, the prosecution dropped all the charges – a huge win.
Zach joined our broadcast to tell us more:
One thing that I love about the ACLJ is just setting a precedent for people like me, my wife, and our friends on the sidewalk. They’re going to be the voice of the voiceless, and [they’re] just fighting against tyranny. . . . Like you said, they charged me, but the escorts were making just as much – if not more – noise. . . . So to be able to do this and to just tell everybody that’s on the sidewalk preaching the Gospel and sharing the good news of Christ with women, escorts, everybody: You have a right to be there, and you have a right for your voice to be heard. And if the government comes after you, you have to fight back and stand there for the glory of God.
The ACLJ will never stop fighting for the rights of pro-life Americans like Zach. Join our fight by signing our vital petition to stop the criminalization of pro-life advocates. Also, please consider donating to fund our legal work.
