DA Fani Willis Final Arguments in Georgia
The closing arguments took place today in the disqualification trial for Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis. Will DA Willis’ improper relationship with Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade disqualify her from pursuing the case against President Donald Trump for 2020 election interference?
Could the new evidence of the cellphone records for Willis and Wade open them up to a perjury charge? Also, the New York Times found text messages by Terrence Bradley that show he willingly helped Trump’s defense attorneys, which contradicts his testimony on the witness stand.
It’s been a wild couple of weeks in Georgia, and we should be reaching a conclusion. We will soon know if DA Willis and her legal team have been disqualified from the Trump case. If that happens, Governor Kemp will appoint a new prosecutor with the authority to pursue or dismiss the case.
The prosecutor could decide that having to start from scratch so close to the election might make the case not worth trying. Interestingly enough, Governor Kemp announced that the Willis prosecution of Trump has become “more political’’ – meaning we could have an idea of what direction the Governor thinks the prosecution should take.
Yesterday, we reacted to the news that the U.S. Supreme Court decided to take up President Trump’s presidential immunity case. In Trump’s appeal, a petition for certiorari was not initially filed – all that had been filed was a motion for stay.
Instead, the Court, on its own, converted it into a certiorari petition, and the Justices wrote one question they want answered: “Whether and if so to what extent does a former President enjoy presidential immunity from criminal prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office?”.
This does happen at the Supreme Court but is very unusual.
My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, explained the absurdity of removing presidential immunity:
If I were Joe Biden, if I were the president of the U.S., you know what I would have done? I would have picked up the phone, called AG Merrick Garland, and said, What are you doing? Do you realize the precedent you’re setting here for . . . every single President or cabinet Secretary? The exposure you’re putting people in? That’s what I don’t understand. Because they’re so myopic in their view to destroy this guy that they’re not even thinking about the long-term consequences of their own policy positions.
We will find out in a few weeks if Trump’s investigation of the 2020 presidential election is considered an official act as President. Right now, the ACLJ is preparing an amicus brief to file in this immunity case at the U.S. Supreme Court.
As you know, we are expecting an answer at any time from the Supreme Court Justices regarding our case to defend your right to vote for the candidate of your choice. Super Tuesday is next week, so we pray that this issue is resolved before then. Otherwise, election interference on a level unseen in America could be in full effect.
We are also filing four new briefs in two separate pro-life cases at the Supreme Court. One case is about President Biden’s illegal expansion of abortion, and the other involves radical abortionists attacking pro-life legislation in Idaho.
The abortion giant is reeling. But as we battle the limitless, taxpayer-funded resources of Biden and Planned Parenthood at the Supreme Court, we need you.
We just launched our Life & Liberty Drive to equip us with the resources we need to continue this Supreme Court fight. We urgently need your support today. Have your gift DOUBLED: $50 becomes $100; $25 becomes $50.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the forthcoming closing arguments in DA Willis’ disqualification case. We also gave quick updates on other important ACLJ cases at the U.S. Supreme Court. Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard joined our broadcast to promote her new book,
For Love of Country: Why I Left the Democratic Partyand ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell discussed President Biden’s failures at the southern border.
