It’s Over: President Trump Defeats Jack Smith
Listen tothis article
Special Counsel Jack Smith officially withdrew from the appeal to prosecute President Donald Trump’s co-defendants in the classified documents case. (This case involved the atrocious raid at Mar-a-Lago by FBI agents using questionable tactics.) The case will now be handed off to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida.
If you remember, Judge Aileen Cannon had already dismissed Special Counsel Jack Smith’s prosecution of Donald Trump in the Florida classified documents. Judge Cannon fully agreed with Donald Trump’s contention that AG Merrick Garland’s appointment of Jack Smith violated the Appointments Clause of the United States Constitution and the Appropriations Clause, U.S. Const. Art. I Section 9, Clause 7. Following this, Smith appealed the ruling.
All this to say, it’s time to hit the road, Jack. Smith’s withdrawal should be the final nail in his ongoing political prosecution of Trump.
It’s so refreshing to know that Smith’s unlawful actions are finally behind us. I look forward to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi (if confirmed) cleaning up the Justice Department. We don’t need a Deep State unlawfully targeting political opponents.
Also, the news broke that China successfully hacked into the U.S. Treasury and stole documents. As you know, the Treasury Department oversees the IRS and the printing of the U.S. dollar – so a breach is a massive move by China to assert its status on the world stage.
ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison commented on China hacking into the U.S. Treasury:
Number one: We should never believe the Chinese. They are long-term enemies of American interests. Number two: The U.S. is increasingly vulnerable to the Chinese, in part because so many American government workers work remotely. Therefore, they’re tied to unencrypted servers, just like Hillary Clinton [was]. And that means that we are even more vulnerable. So I think it’s clear, beyond question, that the U.S. is at war with China, Russia, and Iran within the realm of intelligence. And so I think it’s very important . . . that the incoming Trump Administration is increasingly aware of our vulnerability, and we need to take immediate action.
The Biden-Harris Administration just jeopardized the private information of U.S. citizens. We need a White House that protects our interests.
It’s our biggest day of the year at the ACLJ for raising money. Though a friendlier White House might be taking over in 2025, our work won’t stop.
We’re fighting to defund Planned Parenthood in the biggest Supreme Court case of the year. We’re also launching a $500,000 campaign to combat a state’s attempt to pressure women into killing their babies. We’re fighting to defend the Constitution from the Deep State’s insidious corruption – a fight that will dramatically increase when Trump takes office.
We’re battling to overturn the execution sentence of a Christian who was falsely accused at 16 years old and to protect persecuted Christians across the globe from unthinkable atrocities. And we’re fighting one of the biggest cases in years at the International Criminal Court to defend Israel, with our next deadline in just days.
We need your support now more than ever. We are offering a triple match for donations given until midnight on New Year’s Eve. Donate today to have your gift TRIPLED to fund the ACLJ’s vital work in 2025.
