Media in Chaos Following President Trump’s Meeting
Listen tothis article
Yesterday President Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu met to discuss the Administration’s relationship with Israel. And then the mainstream media went ballistic after President Donald Trump announced that the U.S. would “take over” Gaza and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”
In other words, Gaza will have nice resorts and shops and be a tourist destination that the U.S. controls. And as you can imagine, the media accused Trump of trying to take over the Middle East. A journalist for the New York Times wrote: “Mr. Trump is advancing ever-more brazen ideas about redrawing the map of the world in the tradition of 19th-century imperialism.”
But what’s really going on with Trump’s Gaza comments? On the surface level, Trump offered a fascinating proposal. However, we must remember how Trump operates and the “art of the deal” methods we’ve witnessed for the past two weeks.
He’s made bombastic statements about Canada and Mexico and threatened tariffs on multiple nations to see how they react. So far, his foreign policy strategy is working as both Canada and Mexico caved.
Now, do I believe he has a genuine plan to take over Gaza and rebuild it into a resort town? Yes, I do. But I also think it’s a warning shot that it’s time to get our hostages back and finish up the war in Gaza. And if it’s not done, the U.S. is willing to take drastic actions.
For today’s broadcast, we had a special guest: Calev Michael Myers, the Founder and Chairman of ARISE (Alliance to Reinforce Israel’s Security and Economy). His organization reaches out to Israel’s friends worldwide (many of whom are Christians) to help with the nation’s challenges.
Calev has been a friend of the ACLJ for several years and most recently worked alongside us to represent the families of Israeli hostages. He explained why America’s support of Israel is so vital:
So Israel has just come through its longest war in our history and the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. . . . Now a lot of our enemies talk about this war as an Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But is it really just an Israeli-Palestinian conflict? Because everyone who’s been firing rockets at us or coming across our borders and carrying out terrorist attacks have been funded by, inspired by, and weaponized by Iran. . . .
There’s definitely a spiritual aspect to this, right? You have forces of darkness against forces of light – whatever you want to say – the hordes of evil against the armies of God. But you look at the nations that are aligned on one side that really care about human life, and even in the midst of our conflict, we try to protect Palestinian life, right? And the other side glorifies death. And for that reason, it’s important for the U.S. to support Israel.
We firmly concur with Calev that the U.S. must support its greatest ally in her time of need. Also, it’s wild that Israeli news happened right after the ACLJ filed a critical amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court demanding that the Court hold the Palestine Liberation Organization and Palestinian Authority accountable for their ongoing support of terrorist activities.
Further, we’re preparing to file at the International Criminal Court (ICC), which issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Our brief will advocate for Israel’s right to defend itself after the atrocities of October 7. In conjunction, we sent letters to 38 States that are not ICC members (not parties to the Rome Statute) explaining why the ICC’s arrest warrants are factually and legally baseless.
And we are prepared to file in federal court to stop the radical Left and Hamas sympathizers when they try to overturn President Trump’s orders to defund anti-Israel U.N. agencies. After the U.N. was forced to fire staffers who aided Hamas, the Biden Administration “paused” funding for UNRWA until the investigation into the staffers was completed. Upon hearing this, the ACLJ filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request and subsequent FOIA lawsuit to demand answers about the investigation.
Obviously, America shouldn’t be funding this agency that employs terrorists. We applaud Trump’s actions to defund agencies like UNRWA that openly oppose Israel. So it’s no surprise that Netanyahu called Trump the “greatest friend Israel has ever had.” Unlike the Biden Administration, we don’t have to wonder if the current White House backs Israel.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the media’s reaction to President Trump’s announcement of the U.S. taking over Gaza. We also explained the ACLJ’s ongoing efforts to defend Israel.
