ACLJ Jerusalem Office Working Globally and in America To Defend Israel and Expose the Evils of Hamas, Iran, and Pro-Hamas Propagandists

Much of the world forms its opinions on Palestinian and Iranian attacks on Israel and Israel’s right to defend herself based on heavily biased media reports viewed safely in their living rooms and offices. However, the ACLJ is directly involved through our office on the ground in Jerusalem. We’re doing whatever we can to support our ally Israel.
The ACLJ has had affiliated offices around the world for decades. Among those offices, one has always held a special place in our hearts and in the hearts of many of you, our ACLJ members and ACLJ Champions: our office located in Israel’s capital city, Jerusalem. It’s important to note that this isn’t the Israeli Center for Law and Justice; this is ACLJ Jerusalem because we wanted to make sure that we are representing your interests as we defend our ally Israel.
Long before Hamas’ horrific invasion of Israel on October 7, the ACLJ was fighting to support the Jewish state on every possible front, legally and legislatively, and we have always been committed to being a voice of truth, combating the massive media distortions and libels that have caused more chaos and violence.
Over the years, the work of the ACLJ has earned the trust of leaders in Washington and Jerusalem. They rely on our credibility, principles, and influence. This puts the ACLJ in a unique position to be directly involved in policies affecting the relationship between Israel and the United States. It also gave us exceptional responsibility to act when, on October 7, Israel was attacked and more Jews were killed than on any one day, or in any attack, since the Holocaust.
With the global rise in anti-Israel and antisemitic activity, we thought it immensely important to give you a glimpse of what our Jerusalem office has been working on following the barbaric October 7 attacks.
In the immediate aftermath of the brutal attack, we were asked to brief Members of Congress, their staff, and national conservative and Christian leaders on the situation. Not only did our briefings cover the situation on the ground in Israel, but they also highlighted our unfortunately all-too-accurate prediction of a tsunami of antisemitism and global support for Israel’s genocidal attackers that we’re now seeing around the world, including on the streets and college campuses across the United States. This has led many of our leaders to turn to us for help in structuring appropriate responses.
Since then, shuttling back and forth between Jerusalem and Washington, we have provided ongoing briefings to policymakers and influencers on the situation in Israel, on terrorist threats in America, and on the surge in antisemitism globally.
In Israel, we remain in direct contact with Israeli Government Ministers, Members of Knesset (Israel’s equivalent to Congress), Israeli military and security experts, influencers and grassroots leaders, and journalists to help them understand both public opinion in the United States and the political dynamics at play that have created unprecedented stress between the leaderships of the two countries.
We are in constant communication with our trusted contacts in the Israeli defense, intelligence, and security sectors, being briefed by them and helping them understand how American social and political realities are impacting U.S. aid and military assistance.
Based on compelling information we learned in Israel, we have investigated economic ties between terror-affiliated organizations involved in the October 7 atrocities and South Africa – Israel’s accuser at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). And we have investigated the use of outside funding to foment political and civil unrest in Israel – some of which has been coming from American sources.
We have worked with colleagues at the ACLJ and the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ), our European affiliate, in preparing appropriate legal arguments defending the State of Israel against lawfare attacks launched in international tribunals and other forums well known for their deeply rooted bias against the Jewish state.
We’ve also worked closely with the ECLJ, using its Special Consultative status at the U.N. to submit demand letters and legal briefs to the U.N. Secretary General, U.N. Commission of Inquiry, European Union, Council of Europe, and dozens of countries in advance of the ICJ’s tribunal in order to clarify the arguments against South Africa’s absurd and mendacious accusations.
The ACLJ also represented families of Israeli hostages in international negotiations in the Middle East, in Europe, and in Washington. We also launched a massive multipronged effort on Capitol Hill, meeting with the Speaker of the House and congressional leaders from both sides of the aisle, and internationally at the European Parliament, before the U.N., and through our Jerusalem office to bring the hostages home safely.
Domestically, we’ve briefed Members of Congress, state legislators, state attorneys general, and journalists on the real situation in Israel, from our direct vantage point of having an office in Jerusalem, as well as on domestic threats to America and, specifically, threats to America’s Jews. To that end, we also used our unique experience in this area to help guide American lawyers who have stepped up to advise and represent Americans impacted by antisemitic discrimination and abuse.
Our legal team sent letters to the Secretary of the Treasury, Secretary of State, Speaker of the House, and Senate Majority Leader, advocating for the full use of legislative and executive powers to place sanctions on Iran. And we have been working with key Members of Congress – including through the engagement of tens of thousands of our grassroots activists across the United States – demanding action and making the case for Israel’s right to defend itself.
In addition, we’ve sent legal letters to the U.S. Secretary of Education and U.S. Attorney General, demanding protection for Jewish students on college campuses and investigations into the financing and foreign ties of the encampments.
Based on information gathered in Israel, we’ve also alerted U.S. officials to potential deep ties between Muslim Brotherhood jihadi terror fronts (like Hamas) and American nonprofits – including very active student and campus organizations that have been front and center in the surging assaults on Jews and the violent unrest in American universities. And we’ve advised and represented dozens of American Jewish and pro-Israel faculty and students in legal actions, as well as intervened with university and government leaders in response to the sharp rise in antisemitism across the United States.
As the media played – and continues to play – an influential role in the conflict and affected public opinion regarding Israel, we immediately realized we needed to utilize both traditional and online media as well. In front of the camera, we have appeared on numerous national broadcasts in support of Israel and to combat the rise of antisemitism, including through our daily broadcast, Sekulow.
Behind the camera, we are using our media expertise to help journalists understand the different players and interests and how the media is being manipulated and weaponized to wage war against Israel.
The ACLJ committed to supporting the State of Israel long ago; and through our office in Jerusalem, we continue to keep that promise, working on every level possible to ensure the safety and security of Israel and her people. It looks like the road remains long, but we cannot rest. We refuse to turn our back on our ally in her greatest time of need. And we are thankful for the support of our ACLJ members and ACLJ Champions who’ve chosen to stand and defend Israel alongside us.
