Demanding Biden’s Department of Education and DOJ Stop the Pro-Hamas Violent Protests on College Campuses and Enforce the Law To Protect Jewish and Christian Students Who Support Israel

I just sent a letter to the Department of Education and Department of Justice alongside a coalition of other groups concerning ongoing antisemitism on college campuses throughout the United States. Despite this disturbing trend, next to nothing has been done by federal officials to end the antisemitism and targeted harassment. Specifically, the letter asks a number of important questions about “the spike in antisemitic vandalism, harassment, and violence across the United States—particularly on college campuses.”
Additionally, the letter demands answers from Attorney General Merrick Garland and Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona on key issues of concern. Namely, the letter asks for specific steps to be taken to secure the physical safety of Jewish and pro-Israel students on campus; ensure appropriate discipline of those harassing and harming Jewish students, including an evaluation of visa status for harassers; investigate funding and expenses related to encampments and protests; and penalize schools facilitating or refusing to end the harassment, harm, and assault of Jews/pro-Israel students, faculty, and staff, including through enforcing Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. Unfortunately, previous similar requests for information have been intentionally ignored by the Biden Administration. Perhaps this makes sense, given reports that have revealed that these Left-wing, pro-Palestinian protesters are supported by some of President Biden’s biggest donors.
Unsurprisingly, the inaction of Biden officials mirrors the general ineffectiveness and incoherency of President Biden’s foreign policy in the Middle East. As protests on college campuses throughout the United States continue, Americans are continually reminded of his uninspired leadership and refusal to take a strong stance in support of Israel in the Middle East. It should be common sense to side with Israel, our greatest ally in the Middle East, in opposition to Hamas and in support of the recovery of the innocent hostages taken on October 7, the most genocidal day for Jews since the Holocaust. Yet each day, the Biden Administration proves even more how filled it is with out-of-touch, radical leftists who are more concerned with pandering to the extremities of their party than ensuring justice on behalf of American Jews and Israelis.
Regardless, the ACLJ and ACLJ Action will continue to work arm-in-arm with our allies across the political spectrum in defense of American Jews, Israel, and the Israeli people. Our joining in this effort is merely the latest action in our whole-of-government campaign to engage the full range of the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches to hold the Biden Administration accountable. Today’s effort follows on the heels of last week’s letters sent to Secretary of State Blinken, Secretary of the Treasury Yellen, and House and Senate leadership to initiate strong new sanctions against Iran and fully enforce existing ones.
Despite President Biden’s weak leadership and unwillingness to support Israel, the ACLJ and ACLJ Action remain hard at work to ensure that our government leaves no stone unturned and uses every possible authority at its disposal to end antisemitism both on college campuses and throughout the United States. We demand prompt, clear, and definitive answers from the Department of Education and the Department of Treasury as soon as possible. Our coalition represents the interests of the American people. Should these unelected bureaucrats abdicate their constitutional responsibility to provide answers to the American people, we stand ready to work alongside Congress, doing everything needed to get the answers the American people deserve from President Biden and his truant officials.
