VICTORY: ACLJ Secures Win for Primary Voters
We have a major victory to announce. The Minnesota Supreme Court just threw out a 14th Amendment case against President Trump (in which the ACLJ had filed an amicus brief) – securing a win for the right to vote for the candidate of your choice.
As we told you, more than a dozen lawsuits have been filed in the U.S. to keep voters from having the opportunity to vote for former President Donald Trump if they so choose. The ACLJ has filed in similar 14th Amendment cases in Oklahoma (also dismissed), West Virginia, Colorado, Virginia, and Michigan.
These ridiculous lawsuits have invoked the 14th Amendment, arguing that President Trump should be “disqualified” from the ballot because they believe he incited an insurrection. Obviously, President Trump has neither been charged with nor convicted of insurrection. These far-Left lawsuits are clear attempts at election interference.
But for now, the Republican Party of Minnesota has retained the right to put any candidate on the state’s primary ballot. Thanks to the supporters of our ACLJ Faith and Freedom Drive and our ACLJ Champions, we were able to fund the fight to preserve voting rights.
I believe this 14th Amendment issue will eventually go to the U.S. Supreme Court. The ACLJ has argued and helped win election integrity cases in that arena before, and we can do it again.
The Minnesota victory was a major win for us, but our attention remains heavily on the Middle East. We just announced that we are legally representing several of the families of the Israeli hostages being held in Gaza. The number of families that the ACLJ represents continues to grow, and by next week we could represent over 120 families of the 240 hostages.
We continue to work with coalitions – such as the Voice for Freedom Coalition – and international legal teams to get the hostages freed. The conversation is shifting from what we can do in the U.S. to what we can do at the U.N.
We will leave no stone unturned to get the hostages home as quickly as possible. We believe these hostages are alive because they are Hamas’ strongest negotiation tool.
Yesterday, our broadcast featured family members of the Israeli hostages being held captive in Gaza. Be sure to read their stories and put faces to the names of the hostages and their families who are suffering.
ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell joined the show to discuss President Biden’s mixed messaging after ordering another strike on an Iranian weapons facility in eastern Syria.
We have a White House that keeps denying that there are threats against Americans. Well, they are literally taking military action inside Syria and watching our U.S. drone get shot down by the Houthis in Yemen. Remember, this is an Administration – think about this – they took the Houthis off the Terrorist Watchlist. They gave money to Iran, and Iran starts a war. They took the Houthis off the terrorist list and the Houthis shoot down a $35 million U.S. taxpayer-funded drone of American military. You cannot find an Administration that is more backward and wrong. They are consistently wrong.
Grenell is exactly right. Much of Iran’s latest military action is a result of the Biden Administration’s perceived weakness and the billions that he sent to them. His Administration also needs to be upfront about viable threats to Americans.
Also, last night was the third GOP debate to see who’s likely going to be in second place to President Trump, as the former President maintains a sizable lead in the Republican primary polls. And, most notably, Trump leads President Biden in several key swing states.
Again, I don’t mean this as a slight to the other Republican candidates, but the polls speak for themselves. Right now, it looks like former Governor Nikki Haley and Governor Ron DeSantis are vying for second place in the primary polls. And, of course, anything can happen.
Today’s Sekulow fully analyzed the latest ACLJ victory in preserving voting rights. We also gave insights into the recent election losses for Republicans, the need for educating voters better in pro-life legislation, and Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s (MI-12) pathetic response to being censured by the House. Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard also joined the show.
