As the New Year Approaches, We Give Thanks for Victories Won in 2023 and Prepare for the Fights, New and Old, To Defend Freedom and the Constitution in 2024
It’s hard to believe, but another new year is upon us. A year ago at this time, we expected new challenges, but even we couldn’t have imagined what 2023 had in store.
The radical Left launched a full-scale assault on the Constitution to try to strip away the rights of anyone who dared stand against them. The Deep State weaponized federal agencies to crush American citizens it viewed as enemies, including its own agents who exposed its intolerable behavior as whistleblowers.
Your constitutional liberties – ranging from free speech, your right to vote, and even your right to pray – were in their crosshairs. But we were there at every turn, fighting the duplicitous Deep State in court. And we achieved major victories in defending your faith and freedoms.
When federally funded facilities told senior citizens they could no longer meet for Bible studies or prayer, we were there to stop them from violating the rights of our elderly citizens.
When a National Parks employee was fired over pro-Trump stickers on his personal vehicle, we took action and made the park correct this egregious mistake.
We filed lawsuits against two federally funded institutions – the Smithsonian and the National Archives – for targeting and harassing visitors wearing clothing with pro-life messaging. We defeated the National Archives, obtaining a consent decree in court that they could never engage in this outrageous targeting of conservatives again.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was the Left’s full-scale assault on the voting rights of every American citizen, filing lawsuits to block former President Trump from state ballots. As we told you, they’re twisting the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump from running or holding office, despite the fact that he hasn’t been charged or convicted of insurrection. We’re representing Republican Parties of 16 states to fight these lawsuits, and we’ve already been victorious in some states where the cases have been thrown out.
But a Colorado Supreme Court ruling recently disqualified President Trump from its ballot, and Maine just followed suit. So we’ve taken the fight to the U.S. Supreme Court to have the Left’s attack on our voting rights overruled. It’s the biggest Supreme Court case we’ve ever taken on, because if we lose our right to vote, we lose our constitutional republic. This case will move very fast.
This isn’t even about President Trump. The Deep State is attacking elections and stealing your right to vote for the candidate of your choice. The Left is desperately trying to hijack our election process in order to stop the most prominent threat to its reign. If they succeed, the future of our constitutional republic will look very grim. We’ll continue aggressively fighting to defend your freedoms and preserve our Constitution.
But we also enter this new year with gratitude for the victories we’ve achieved in 2023, including the tremendously successful launch of our ACLJ Champions program – monthly recurring donors who help support our fight all year long – that is designed to enable you to get more directly involved in our legal fights.
