Special Counsel Targeting Everyone Who Interacted With Trump's Twitter
Special Counsel Jack Smith, the Deep State prosecutor leading the charge in President Donald Trump’s January 6 indictment, obtained a warrant for any information on X (formerly Twitter) users who liked or shared Trump’s tweets.
Though Smith initially requested all records related to Trump’s personal X account, he didn’t stop there. The Federalist reports on this massive unconstitutional invasion of U.S. citizens’ privacy:
But it wasn’t just Trump’s Twitter account that Smith and his cronies were targeting. The special counsel’s warrant also sought data on Twitter users who interacted with the former president’s account. Among the information Smith sought was a list of every user Trump “followed, unfollowed, muted, unmuted, blocked, or unblocked” during the aforementioned timeframe. Smith similarly demanded that Twitter, which has since rebranded as X, fork over a list of users who took any of the same actions with Trump’s account.
Smith and his team went even further, seeking to acquire data on Twitter users who engaged with Trump’s tweets in the months leading up to Jan. 6, 2021. This included “all lists of Twitter users who have favorited or retweeted tweets posted by [Trump], as well as all tweets that include the username associated with [Trump’s account] (i.e. ‘mentions’ or ‘replies’).”
Trump has roughly 57 million followers, which is a lot of people to investigate. Basically, the federal government is creating a new “enemies” list – and wouldn’t this be the largest “enemies” list ever compiled? And if you’ve ever just hit “like” or “retweet” on Trump’s Twitter, then you are now the target of a Deep State probe.
The far Left will do anything to make sure President Trump is out of the picture in 2024. Whether by targeting Twitter followers of the former President or trying to remove him from state presidential primary ballots, the Deep State is waging a full-on war.
Special Counsel Smith’s actions are a clear violation of the First Amendment right to free speech, and my dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, and I are incensed. We are exploring the possibility of a new lawsuit against the Deep State for unlawfully targeting Americans. Stay tuned.
Former U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard joined our show to comment on Special Counsel Smith’s unlawful targeting of Americans:
This is a direct assault on our First Amendment rights. . . . We’ve seen already how the Biden Administration has been working directly through the FBI to try to bully these Big Tech and social media companies into blocking, censoring, or canceling accounts of those they deem as either pro-Trump supporters or those who have a narrative that is counter to . . . the position of the Biden-Harris Administration. . . . And people shrug their shoulders and say, well, gosh, golly, gee, this Administration has so brazenly really undermined and thrown our constitutional rights in the trash – we have to take them on and fight.
Every civil libertarian should be irate right now. Even opponents of Trump should be concerned about the illegal methods of the DOJ. If the federal government is allowed to target supporters of political opposition, what kind of precedent is being set for future Administrations? This is a very dangerous slippery slope that endangers all Americans.
The ACLJ recently released its first full-length feature movie, Jingle Smells. This Christmas comedy pokes fun at cancel culture and promotes a positive Christmas message for the whole family.
John Schneider from The Dukes of Hazzard is one of the stars of Jingle Smells, and he visited our studio to discuss his new movie. He pointed out how The Dukes of Hazzard was one of the first shows to be canceled for political reasons. The show had been a massive success, yet a group decided the show was offensive and got the show axed. So the message of Jingle Smells resonated strongly with him.
Order Jingle Smells today on Rumble and laugh along with your entire family.
Tomorrow is the deadline for our Faith & Freedom Drive. We can’t fight against the Deep State’s unconstitutional attacks on Americans without your support. Donate today, and your gift will be doubled instantly.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast analyzed the troubling news of the Deep State’s latest First Amendment violation. Also, Ralph Reed, the Founder and Chairman of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, joined to discuss efforts to send financial aid to Israel.
