Tulsi Gabbard Silences the Left in an Intense Senate Vote
Listen tothis article
The U.S. Senate just confirmed our colleague Tulsi Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) in a 52-48 vote. Senator Mitch McConnell (KY) was the lone Republican to vote no; all other Senators voted along party lines. Fortunately, McConnell’s vote wasn’t needed, and Tulsi was confirmed.
We are well aware that Tulsi’s confirmation wasn’t an easy battle. We are proud to have worked with Tulsi on the Sekulow broadcast over the last couple of years. We are thankful that everyone got to see the Tulsi we know and respect by her conduct in the confirmation hearings. She is the right person to lead the intelligence community as DNI.
Also, her confirmation was not only a victory for Tulsi but also for our ACLJ supporters. Thousands of you showed up for this fight, with over 60,000 signing our petition: Confirm Tulsi Gabbard – Defeat the Deep State. The attacks against Tulsi began with lies and ended with a desperate failure by Senator Adam Schiff (CA) and a hyperbolic, last-ditch effort by Senator Chuck Schumer (NY), but each of you hung in there.
And now everyone’s attention will shift to the Senate confirmation vote for RFK Jr. as HHS Secretary. The Senate just voted 53-47 to invoke cloture on his confirmation, which kicks off a 30-hour clock to resolve the debate about RFK Jr.’s confirmation.
In the meantime, I fully expect Schiff and Schumer to triple down on their efforts to block the confirmation. We should find out sooner rather than later if RFK Jr. is confirmed.
Also, the Senate confirmation vote for Kash Patel for FBI Director is upcoming. A far-Left smear campaign is currently underway. Senator Dick Durbin (IL) accused Patel of perjury during his hearing, saying that Patel has secretly been coordinating the FBI even though he hasn’t been confirmed yet. So the far Left is using strong language to derail Patel at the last minute.
The news also broke last night that President Trump had engineered the release of American teacher Marc Fogel from Russia. Trump also posted on Truth Social that he had a “lengthy and highly productive phone call” with Vladimir Putin – obviously a call President Biden never made – and the U.S. will help broker a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine.
So Trump is getting on the phone with world leaders and effecting change. He’s willing to have conversations and negotiate – not just participate in mere political grandstanding that America can’t talk to “bad guys.” This is how diplomacy works on the world stage, and Trump’s list of accomplishments in just a month is stunning.
It’s also been a busy few days for the ACLJ. We just filed three briefs in three vital cases regarding the far Left’s attempts to shut down President Trump’s agenda. Sekulow Executive Producer Will Haynes provided an update:
We’ve filed 3 briefs in cases where the Left or the liberal states are going after President Trump’s funding freezes. One [brief] is out of the District Court of Rhode Island: New York, et al. v. Donald Trump, et al. And that’s the one where the judge put in the temporary restraining order, but it wasn’t just about this specific OMB memo. It went much broader and put a temporary restraining order on all funding freezes. . . . Another one that we will be filing in this week is out of D.C., very similar, different plaintiffs there. We’re currently in the drafting phase of that. And then two [briefs] about DOGE specifically, and that’s about the access to the Treasury and one that we filed in the D.C. Circuit. Specifically, the ACLJ’s position argues for a unitary Executive – that the President needs to be able to run the Executive branch. This is something that our ACLJ lawyers have a lot of expertise in because we’ve been filing and fighting cases about Executive power for years now.
