Trump Confirms VP Names Ahead of 2024 Election
President Trump joined Laura Ingraham (host of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News) for a town hall in Greenville, South Carolina, to discuss the GOP primary election against former Governor Nikki Haley. Trump confirmed he has a list of possible Vice President nominees that includes Sen. Tim Scott (SC), Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Rep. Byron Donalds (FL-19), South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem, and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard.
Politico reports on Trump’s list of possible nominees:
During a Fox News town hall event, host Laura Ingraham asked Trump about six possible choices for his running mate: DeSantis, Scott, biotech entrepreneur and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, Florida Rep. Byron Donalds, South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem and Gabbard.
“Are they all on your shortlist?” she asked.
“They are,” Trump said, before adding: “Honestly all of those people are good. They’re all good, they’re all solid.”
During the last presidential election, President Trump didn’t announce a VP pick until July 2016, when he chose Indiana Governor Mike Pence. So it’s still relatively early in the electoral process.
I played a clip from last night’s town hall when the possible VP nominees were announced. Can you guess which name generated the biggest positive response in the crowd? The Sekulow broadcast’s latest addition: Senior Military and Political Analyst (and former Representative from Hawaii) Tulsi Gabbard.
Obviously, we know Rep. Gabbard personally, and we have much respect for her. It’s interesting that the crowd responded so well to her being mentioned since she was a former Democratic nominee for President. But perhaps Rep. Gabbard would reach across the aisle and bring in more voters who would normally support President Biden.
Senator Tim Scott is another friend of the ACLJ, and we’ve worked with him in the past. President Trump went out of his way to praise Senator Scott personally at the town hall. Would the South Carolina Senator bring in as many non-traditional GOP voters? Maybe not. But he has a lot of experience and could govern if needed.
Of course, these are just a few names that were thrown out. There are still other candidates that Trump could choose. We’ll be keeping a close eye on further developments.
I have a major ACLJ victory to announce. We represented a Jewish student at the State University of New York (SUNY) after the college dean told her not to wear a pro-Israel shirt – even though other students are free to wear pro-Hamas shirts.
We took immediate action on her behalf by explaining our client’s right to equal treatment, including the ability to wear expressive material in the classroom – especially since the school had no dress code requirements pertaining to symbols, flags, or political speech.
The school quickly understood our position and agreed that our client was free to wear her pro-Israel T-shirt to class and should not have been singled out by the school and reprimanded.
The outrageous attack on the SUNY Jewish student is not an outlier. Israel continues to be attacked from all sides – both at home and abroad. We remain vigilant in advocating for our greatest ally on the world stage and in fighting to bring home the remaining Israeli hostages. Sign our petition to take a stand for Israel alongside us.
ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell joined to discuss Putin’s preference for U.S. President:
“Tradition” and “known” and “predictable” are exactly what foreign governments want. They don’t want surprises. They don’t want to not be able to figure out the President. I’m reminded of a conversation that I had with Chancellor Merkel when I was in Berlin as Ambassador to Germany. And she said to me, I feel like I just can’t figure out Donald Trump, and that scares me because I just don’t know what he’s going to do next. . . . I said, well, as an American, I’ve waited my whole life to have a President who is totally unpredictable, who no one can figure out. Because then people will be respectful of the President.
Putin wants Biden back in the White House because he’s “more predictable.” Putin doesn’t respect Biden and knows exactly how he will react whenever Russia makes a move. Such predictability only endangers the U.S. and the world.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of President Trump’s possible choices for running mate in the 2024 election. We also fielded several phone calls from viewers giving their preferred choices for Trump’s running mate. Senior Counsel for International and Government Affairs Jeff Ballabon also joined to discuss Biden’s recent sanctions on Israelis in the West Bank.
