According to a Trump campaign official, President Donald Trump just received a shocking intelligence briefing from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence about an Iranian assassination plot against him. We’ve already had two assassination attempts on President Trump this election season. Can the U.S. Secret Service properly protect the former President from threats at home and now abroad?

Fox News reports on the ongoing credible threat against Trump:

Former President Trump was briefed Tuesday about “real and specific threats” from Iran to assassinate the Republican presidential candidate, according to his campaign.

Iran’s aim to assassinate Trump is part of the Islamic Republic’s efforts to “destabilize and sow chaos in the United States,” Trump Campaign Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a press release.

“Intelligence officials have identified that these continued and coordinated attacks have heightened in the past few months, and law enforcement officials across all agencies are working to ensure President Trump is protected and the election is free from interference,” Cheung said.

No one should be shocked that Iran wants to take out President Trump. During Trump’s presidency, Iran was almost bankrupt due to the imposed sanctions. It didn’t have the funding to spread terror throughout the Middle East through Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Hamas. And the devastating events of October 7 likely wouldn’t have occurred under Trump’s watch.

Make no mistake: Iran has the government resources and intelligence to carry out an assassination plot on a world leader. They certainly have the money, thanks to the Biden-Harris Administration. Though their intelligence community might not be nearly as sophisticated as the CIA or Mossad, Iran is still very dangerous. We know for a fact that Iran attempted to assassinate a Saudi ambassador on American soil.

Of course, Trump can’t only be worried about foreign threats. The Senate just released its findings on the security failures at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. This bipartisan report has left even many far-Left Senators disgusted with what happened at the Trump rally.

Included within the 94-page report is that the Secret Service radios malfunctioned that day, which caused much confusion. Another shocking find involves the lack of competency in manning a drone to scan the area for threats. One of the Secret Service members had to call a toll-free number to get tech support because he had only been on the job for a few months and didn’t know what he was doing. Why were these failures prevalent at a rally for the GOP presidential nominee?

We are thankful that Congress unanimously passed a bill to shore up Secret Service protection for President Trump and other presidential candidates. This bipartisan effort to protect our country’s leaders was essential after President Biden admitted last week that the Secret Service “needs more help.” At the same time, does money put a band-aid on the inherent institutional failures of the Department of Homeland Security?

Some on the Left are pointing out that Trump isn’t doing as many rallies this election cycle. Well, what reason could that possibly be? As we saw most recently in West Palm Beach, Florida, the lack of heightened security almost cost the President his life again.

We all pray that these “real and specific threats” against President Trump remain neutralized.

Speaking of institutional failures, we have a major update in our defense of FBI whistleblowers, such as Special Agent Garret O’Boyle, who are shining a light on the Deep State’s corruption. The ACLJ was present at an important congressional hearing today regarding whistleblower protections.

We just filed a major FOIA lawsuit against the Biden-Harris FBI and DOJ as part of our defense of the whistleblowers. We’re in federal appeals court defending Agent O’Boyle, and our oral argument is next month. We will never stop defending these heroes who are experiencing the unjust wrath of the Deep State.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of Iran’s plot to assassinate President Trump. Also, ACLJ Senior Counsel for International and Government Affairs Jeff Ballabon provided an update on Israel’s war with Hezbollah. Tristan Leavitt, President of Empower Oversight, commented on today’s whistleblower congressional hearing.
