Prior to the assassination attempt on Saturday, the Secret Service had already increased its efforts to protect President Donald Trump, sparked by recent intel of an Iranian plot to assassinate the former President. So how do you explain the major security failure at the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania?

We’ve heard competing narratives from the Secret Service. On the one hand, they’ve reported boosting security on Saturday because of the potential Iranian plot, but we’ve also heard Trump’s usual security team was not present and that they weren’t able to fully protect him because of strained resources. We should know more about this on Monday. But for now, troubling questions remain – and the American people deserve answers.

Also, today is a big day for the RNC, as we anticipate J.D. Vance’s first address since he secured the nomination for Vice President. And tomorrow is even more significant as President Trump will address the American people for the first time since the attempted assassination this past Saturday. As the far Left struggles to unite, will people start looking to Trump as the great uniter? Will his VP pick draw attention from millennials?

Former U.S. Representative Tulsi Gabbard joined us with her take on President Trump’s nomination of J.D. Vance:

I think J.D. Vance is a great choice. I look forward to doing all I can to help President Trump and J.D. Vance get elected and bring back leadership to the White House that actually respects the Constitution and puts the well-being of the American people and our country first.

He needs people of courage [in his cabinet] with a backbone who are willing to take on these powerful entities who have been in control in Washington across Administrations from both political parties [and] root out that deep corruption and make sure that there are people in place at every level who are committed to putting the well-being and interest of our country first. This is something that I would like to hear from J.D. Vance. I think it reflects his views and the kind of leadership that he’ll bring.

This is the biggest speech of J.D. Vance’s life. Many Americans will start tuning in tonight to see who he is.

While Trump’s campaign draws growing attention, the far Left is in freefall – now switching its focus to dismantling the U.S. Supreme Court. President Biden is coming out with a major initiative to change the Supreme Court: possible term limits for Justices, a new code of ethics, and a constitutional amendment to remove the broad immunity for Presidents, which would incidentally impact him.

Term limits would be a constitutional violation. But Biden is claiming he can impact the constitutional power of the Supreme Court, a co-equal branch of government, through legislation. This is laughable. He needs to read and understand the Constitution and the limits of power in all branches.

ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison comments:

It’s purely political. I don’t believe that Joe Biden believes for one second that he’s going to get any of this through, but he hopes to galvanize his base in a desperate attempt to prevail in November. It’s sad that a desperate attempt is to kind of unravel one of the major portions of our government and the way that things run, and to do that for just pure political gain.

The far Left is always looking at the short term – how something will affect the election tomorrow and the perception of the people. And is this coming from Joe Biden, who has been a politician for nearly his entire career. He has effectively had a lifetime appointment. He should be more concerned with cleaning up his own house and getting to the bottom of the failures of the Secret Service.

The ACLJ is committed to the rule of law and upholding the Constitution. We have a President who wants to circumvent the Constitution. That’s why we must be the voice of reason. And we can do this because of your generous support. We encourage you to support the ACLJ moving forward so we can continue this vital work. Give today during our Life & Liberty Drive, and your gift will be doubled.
