Karine Jean-Pierre Walked Out After Fox Asked This Question
Listen tothis article
Why does the Biden-Harris Administration have $157 million ready to send to Lebanon but still needs congressional approval to help North Carolinians suffering from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene? This question from Fox News’ Peter Doocy to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre set off a heated exchange yesterday. Jean-Pierre later accused Doocy of spreading misinformation and abruptly stormed out.
Doocy was correct in asserting that President Biden had sent a letter last describing FEMA’s lack of funds. Instead of throwing out buzzwords like “misinformation,” why doesn’t the White House do its job?
At the ACLJ, we generally favor a limited federal government, but most agree that taxpayer dollars should go to help Americans during times of natural disasters. However, that’s not happening for North Carolinians amid rising death tolls.
It’s shocking to see the White House more concerned about rebuilding Lebanon rather than North Carolina. In a time of true crisis, Biden-Harris officials are clamoring that they need congressional intervention to help American citizens, yet they move full speed to send aid overseas. It’s like pulling teeth to get help for taxpaying citizens who genuinely need assistance.
Of course, sending money overseas is nothing new. Aside from the Lebanon funding, we have reports that the Administration has lost track of $1 billion of Ukrainian funds. We have no clue where the money went, yet we continue to dole out billions overseas with reckless abandon. It’s no wonder that the Administration’s tone-deafness is driving more voters to support President Trump’s “America First” mantra.
The Biden-Harris Administration might consider another point: Hurricanes aren’t a new phenomenon. They often hit our coasts, and we should be well-prepared to send aid on the ground and funds as needed. To be this ill-prepared is astonishing. Why didn’t the Green New Deal Lite package that addresses the White House’s climate change agenda ensure FEMA had substantial funding?
It’s ridiculous that Jean-Pierre just stormed angrily out of the press briefing. I’m glad Doocy was there to hold the Administration accountable. Instead of accusing Doocy of spreading fake news, Jean-Pierre should have had answers. Hurricane Milton – a Category 4 storm – is about to hit Florida, and we are praying for friends and families there. Currently, 51 of the 67 counties in Florida are in a state of emergency. We hope the Administration is better prepared for any potential humanitarian crisis.
If you watched the presidential and vice presidential debates, you’ll remember the topic of late-term abortions came up. When President Trump declared that multiple states allow abortions up to birth, the ABC News moderators said his claim was false. When Senator J.D. Vance asked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz about his state’s law that allows abortions in the ninth month, Walz claimed that Vance was taking the law out of context.
Well, The Atlantic just published the article “Yes, Third-Trimester Abortions Are Happening in America” and validated the claims of Trump and Vance. Though the article still takes a far-Left slant regarding abortion, at least they’re willing to check the facts themselves.
ACLJ Senior Counsel CeCe Heil elaborated on the prevalence of late-term abortions:
There are nine states and D.C. that allow these late-term abortions, and . . . in Colorado, there were 137 of these late-term abortions. . . . When we’re talking about the third trimester, we’re talking about 28 weeks. Now a baby can live at 22 weeks. So they’ll try to say, well, this is to save the life of a mother, but you never have to murder the child to save the life of the mother. [During] these late-term abortions, the babies can be delivered and live. And so it’s a subject they don’t want to talk about because almost 80% of Americans have said they don’t support third-trimester abortions. And yet the Democrats are still trying to spin it and say no, they don’t happen.
The ACLJ remains committed to defending the unborn and the valuable work of Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs). Right now, we are launching a counter-campaign in Massachusetts to fight back against a taxpayer-funded smear campaign against PRCs. We also just filed a vital brief at the U.S. Supreme Court to defund Planned Parenthood. Join our fight to save the unborn by signing our petition.
