Even some prominent members of the mainstream media have soured on Vice President Kamala Harris’ nonanswers during her presidential debate against President Donald Trump. CNN anchor Jake Tapper criticized VP Harris because she “generally reverted to talking points” when asked direct questions from ABC News’ David Muir and Linsey Davis.

Fox News reports on Tapper’s sharp criticism of Kamala:

On Wednesday, Tapper said Harris was less than forthcoming about her policies, beginning the debate “by punting the first question on the economy.”

“It went on from there,” Tapper said after playing a clip of her response. “Despite the economy being the number one issue facing the country, the sitting vice president generally reverted to talking points about a few of her policy proposals. Even Harris allies today are saying that she needs to talk more about what she will do for Americans if elected.”

The host then noted another major question she avoided answering, saying “she also dodged” on the border.

When asked how she might have managed the crisis better than President Biden, Harris began, “So I’m the only person on this stage who has prosecuted transnational criminal organizations for the trafficking of guns, drugs, and human beings.”

“M’kay, that wasn’t the question,” Tapper said of her remark.

Clearly, Jake Tapper wasn’t a fan of many key moments from Kamala’s debate, beginning with the first question when the Vice President was asked if Americans are better off today than they were 3.5 years ago. As Tapper concedes, she skipped the first question altogether by giving her life story as growing up in a middle-class family, totally brushing off whether Americans are better off.

And as we pointed out yesterday, Kamala experienced no pushback from ABC News’ moderators. When she ignored a question, neither Muir nor Davis followed up to procure an answer. However, they sure had no issues pushing back on President Trump.

What’s interesting about Tapper’s commentary is how strongly it contrasts his initial reaction to the debate. On Tuesday night, he was positively glowing on CNN’s panel about Kamala’s debate: “Vice President Harris’ supporters have got to be pleased with her performance this evening.” Panelist Chris Wallace also chimed in that Trump’s debate was as disastrous as Biden’s debate back in June.

So what caused Tapper to change his mind after the dust settled? I guess he had a moment of reflection and realized how Kamala only had rehearsed answers to the questions. And this isn’t the only time CNN has recently called out Kamala’s campaign. They were not pleased with her championing Trump’s border wall as her own. Some within CNN are apparently discontent with Kamala’s continuous flip-flopping and dodging.

The state of Ohio was a topic of conversation in the debate, and in related news, the ACLJ has filed a new major lawsuit regarding school choice in the Buckeye State. The Columbus City Board of Education is refusing to transport children to private schools, including many Christian schools, despite an Ohio law that requires them to provide transportation.

The ACLJ just filed a writ of mandamus at the Ohio Supreme Court on behalf of our client to force the city to follow the law and uphold parental rights and school choice. Many families have been severely affected, facing lost hours at work, increased costs, and other severe burdens. The Columbus School District is effectively penalizing families for their religious beliefs and educational preferences – a clear infringement on religious liberty and parental rights.

At the end of the day, this issue is not just about transportation – it’s about the fundamental right of parents to direct the upbringing and education of their children without undue government interference. We will keep you updated on this developing lawsuit.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of Jake Tapper’s disgruntled breakdown of Vice President Harris’s debate performance. ACLJ Senior Counsel for International and Government Affairs Jeff Ballabon reacted to VP Harris’ calling for a two-state solution during the debate.
