Did Vice President Kamala Harris severely damage her candidacy for the White House last night? With just days until Election Day, VP Harris took a gamble in agreeing to an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier and it didn’t go well.

Kamala has finally been hitting the interview circuit, but this was the first time she sat down with someone willing to ask tough questions. Before this, Harris had mainly appeared on popular Left-leaning podcasts, CNN, and other friendly environments. (And she still managed to embarrass herself even on The View.)

Why did the Harris-Walz campaign feel compelled to do this interview right before Election Day? The internal polling for Kamala’s campaign must be much worse than what the national pollsters are reporting. The interview may signify that her team is starting to panic.

Clearly, the puff interviews on the podcasts aren’t moving the needle enough. Kamala needed to do something to spruce up her campaign – the momentum has completely stalled out. So she thought she’d go on Fox News to reach a different voting base, one that traditionally leans conservative.

However, Kamala clearly lacked a strategy once she sat down, which is not a good look for someone running to be the leader of the free world. When Baier asked Harris why she keeps insisting that Americans are ready “for a new way forward” after she’s been part of the Biden Administration for 3.5 years, Kamala had no answer but to repeatedly blame Trump’s rhetoric.

During this exchange, she could have easily differentiated herself from the Biden Administration. And while she told Baier her presidency would be different from President Biden’s, she didn’t provide policy proposals. She also could have just said, Bret, constitutionally, I am the VP and don’t have the power to enact policies. It should have been a lay-up, but she failed to do so entirely, instead deflecting to blame Trump.

I don’t see how a Fox News audience would accept her excuse that Trump’s alleged divisive rhetoric is the reason 79% of the country believes the country is headed in the wrong direction. She gave an obvious non-answer.

While the Harris-Walz campaign continues to struggle, election integrity remains very important to the ACLJ. We are taking a stand against the far Left’s election interference in the 2024 presidential election.

For instance, the Biden-Harris DOJ filed a major lawsuit to stop Virginia from removing noncitizens from the voter rolls. ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison joined us with his insight into the Virginia case.

What we have is clear and unmistakable evidence that the DOJ is engaging, in my opinion, in election interference. In other words, they’re trying to deprive the state of Virginia of the right to purge noncitizens. If you read the first line of the DOJ’s brief, they argue that only U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in U.S. federal elections. That fact is not in dispute, and there is no evidence of widespread noncitizen voting in the United States – but that is not what this case is about. That, in my opinion, is a fabrication. It’s precisely about the DOJ’s effort to assist noncitizens to vote in Virginia elections. Up to 6,300 noncitizens have self-identified themselves as noncitizens. And yet what is the DOJ doing? They’re filing a lawsuit. They’re trying to enjoin – or prevent – the state of Virginia from enforcing a law signed by Democrat Governor Tim Kaine in 2006. So this is ridiculous. It’s also a move by the DOJ that arguably violates the United States Constitution.

What’s happening in Virginia is a perfect example of how the far Left is trying to subvert the Constitution. Some states are even pledging to disenfranchise their voters by abolishing the Electoral College in favor of the popular vote.

It’s time for the ACLJ to act, and we’re preparing to file a vital amicus brief in federal court to stop this undermining of our democracy. We could be in court as early as today.
