Fallout From Biden’s “Lock Him Up” Debacle

At a campaign rally in New Hampshire, President Joe Biden announced, “We got to lock [President Donald Trump] up.” So much for the mainstream media’s calls to tone down the rhetoric in the 2024 presidential election cycle.

President Trump has been facing an onslaught of indictments, lawsuits, and assassination attempts since the moment he left office. We’ve seen his home at Mar-a-Lago raided, his New York City businesses and Trump Tower possibly taken away, etc. And the American people have had to live with this constant political prosecution for four years now.

And most horrifically, President Trump was almost assassinated twice this year. And it’s because of the far Left’s constant demagoguing that he is a threat to democracy. Biden’s words only put more gasoline on the fire. The dangerous rhetoric must stop before something truly tragic occurs.

President Biden then tried to correct himself by clarifying that he meant Trump should be “politically” locked up. However, this could be even more dangerous because a sitting President is announcing that a political candidate whom his DOJ is prosecuting should be put in jail. If you didn’t know it was Biden talking, you might think you were listening to Kim Jong Un or Vladimir Putin.

Yes, Biden was probably referring to Trump’s popular “lock her up” chants regarding former presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Yet Trump didn’t send his DOJ after Clinton. He recognized it was better for the country to move on. We don’t want to become a banana republic that puts political opponents in jail. Unfortunately, we could be getting there sooner rather than later.

Senator Ted Cruz (TX) – a longtime ally of the ACLJ’s legal work – joined us to discuss the importance of not allowing the far Left to get a stronghold in his state:

In Texas, Schumer and Soros are spending over $40 million just on abortion. They are the party of abortion. And again, the polls show this is a one-, two- or three-point race if they win in Texas – simply being for abortion in all circumstances, with no limits whatsoever. Kamala Harris just did an interview where she was asked, would you even allow religious liberty, exceptions for abortion? She said no, why would I do that? So she’s talking about forcing Catholic hospitals and evangelical doctors to perform abortions. That’s how radical they’ve gotten. And if that message were to win in Texas, the consequences nationally for people of faith, for the pro-life movement, [and] for religious liberty for believers would be devastating.

Senator Cruz was referencing VP Harris’ doubling down on abortion expansion in a recent interview with NBC News after being asked if “religious exemptions” should remain for Christian doctors and nurses being forced to perform abortions.

 Harris stated: “I don’t think we should be making concessions when we’re talking about a fundamental freedom to make decisions about your own body.” She later added that America needs to “put back in the protections of Roe v Wade.”

In other words, the far Left’s gaslighting on the subject of abortion continues. The overturning of Roe v. Wade did not endanger women’s health and put zero limits on abortion nationally. And even more importantly, it did not overturn the conscience clause.

No medical employee should be forced to perform an abortion if it violates their religious beliefs. The Constitution protects individuals from having their religious conscience violated, and the ACLJ fights for the rights of such pro-life medical professionals.

For example, we just sent a legal letter after we found out a hospital is forcing ultrasound technicians to assist in abortions. If the hospital refuses to respect the religious conscience of its employees, we will take aggressive legal action.
