Last night Fox News’ Brett Baier sat down with Elon Musk and his DOGE team to discuss the status of their mission to cut 15% of wasteful government spending and increase government efficiency. The amount of detail by Musk and his counterparts was remarkable.

Prior to last night, DOGE’s messaging had primarily been anecdotal: defunding this agency, looking into this government project, uncovering waste, etc. However, while talking to Baier, Musk and his team delved into the granular details of how the federal government works – or doesn’t work – for the American people.

Of course, the far Left and mainstream media have voiced outrage that DOGE is moving too quickly and cutting vital programs (e.g., Social Security, Medicare) that will destroy people’s lives. Or DOGE will shutter the national parks and fire too many government workers. The far Left’s opposition has also resulted in rampant violence against Tesla owners, prompting the FBI’s involvement.

Speaking of national parks, Musk dropped a bombshell last night: “There was literally a 10-question survey that you could do with SurveyMonkey for $10,000 that the government was charged almost a billion dollars for.”

To make the taxpayer funding for this survey ($830 million) even more wasteful, Musk said that “there appeared to be no feedback loop.” In other words, no one was checking the results to see how to improve our national parks. This survey is the epitome of government waste.

When DOGE talks about cuts to Social Security, it doesn’t want to cut the funding earmarked for individuals who receive those benefits. Rather, they want to cut the expensive nature in which that agency is run.

DOGE revealed that 40% of the inbound calls to Social Security are scammers trying to defraud other American citizens by stealing their Social Security checks. If DOGE can stop this fraud, then Social Security customer service representatives can actually help people with issues that need to be resolved.

Musk asserted that DOGE’s goal to remove 15% of wasteful spending is “quite achievable.” To accomplish this goal, DOGE seeks to cut $4 billion per day. In two months, DOGE has already cut $130 billion in government spending, which saves each taxpayer $807.45.

So DOGE is doing a great job so far. However, we have one primary critique. Musk’s interview shouldn’t have just taken place two months into DOGE’s operation – it should have happened the first week.

Because when you put faces to the members of DOGE (including a literal rocket scientist, a software engineer, and a Morgan Stanley banker) and see how serious they are about their mission, you realize just how much the media has misrepresented DOGE.

And you also see their goal isn’t just to slash and burn everything at the federal level. Musk responded to such allegations, “They may characterize it as shooting from the hip, but it is anything but that. [Our protocol is to] measure twice, if not thrice and cut once.” The DOGE members truly care about American taxpayers and the future of the country.

You’d think this transparency of DOGE would compel the far Left to buy in. It could willingly work together with DOGE to protect the programs that should be protected, yet still work toward a more efficient government. Yet the far Left appears unwilling to reach across the aisle and would rather firebomb Tesla dealerships.

The ACLJ has now filed seven briefs in five federal courts to defend DOGE’s mission. We are working in tandem to help cut wasteful spending, as well as DOGE’s initiative to cut taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood.

We celebrate the news that President Trump is about to sign an Executive order to defund millions of dollars from Planned Parenthood. We recently filed an amicus brief defending his presidential authority to do so. Also, the Supreme Court is hearing oral argument next week in a major case we filed in to allow states to defund Planned Parenthood.

This is the moment to take our tax dollars back from the abortion industry and save lives. Take action with us. Donate during the final days of our Life & Liberty Drive – gifts are doubled.
