The DOJ just announced the launch of a grand jury investigation into New York Attorney General Letitia James regarding her civil lawsuit against President Trump. Meanwhile, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi is already investigating James for mortgage fraud. James’ legal troubles seem to be multiplying.

As reported by the New York Times:

The Justice Department this week abruptly escalated its pressure campaign on Letitia James, New York’s attorney general and one of President Trump’s longtime adversaries, opening a civil rights investigation into her office and appointing a special prosecutor to scrutinize her real estate dealings. . . .

The civil rights investigation, which had not previously been reported, is examining whether Ms. James’s office violated Mr. Trump’s civil rights in its successful fraud suit against him, according to three people with knowledge of the matter.

The acting U.S. attorney in Albany sent Ms. James’s office two subpoenas, one of which was related to the civil fraud case, which led to Mr. Trump being penalized more than half a billion dollars.

To clarify, today’s announcement isn’t related to that investigation into potential mortgage fraud, which we had previously discussed, in which James may have misrepresented herself on mortgage applications.

This is a whole new investigation, with the DOJ digging into James’ handling of the civil fraud case that she brought against President Trump during the last election cycle. Remember, this is the one that the judge ruled against President Trump and slapped him with a nearly half-billion-dollar fine.

Now the DOJ is looking at whether James violated the civil rights of President Trump with her investigation. This stems back from all the statements she made while running for the office of New York Attorney General, where she repeatedly said she would get Trump and be his worst nightmare. Then she brought this civil fraud case, where much of it hinged on whether the stated valuation of Mar-a-Lago when used as collateral to secure business loans was the true amount.

It appears the DOJ will be looking specifically at whether James violated 18 USC 242, which is a deprivation of rights under the color of law. And this statute can be applied to anyone in a law enforcement position, whether it be a police officer or the Attorney General. What we know is they’ve already subpoenaed the office of Letitia James. But we’ll see how far this will go in trying to correct the wrongs of the lawfare waged by the Left.

On today’s broadcast, we also covered some breaking news that happened overnight in the Middle East as Israel’s security cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposal to occupy Gaza in an effort to shut down terrorists like Hamas.

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo – one of the founders of the historic Abraham Accords – joined us to discuss this major move for Israel and why he believes it’s the right course of action:

You always think about this from America’s perspective. For us, this is absolutely the right thing. Americans will be safer. The Middle East is more likely to be prosperous and peaceful, and that’s good. We’ll send fewer of our kids to be in that place where we have lost so much. So, it checks the box for America. For Israel, I think this is a necessity. I think it’s something they’ve been working on, frankly, since about October 7. They knew in their heart of hearts that they could never allow Hamas to continue. Certainly not a Hamas with weapons, and so you see they’re gonna take all the weapons out, they’re gonna demilitarize it.

It’s also very clear that Prime Minister Netanyahu knows this is hard, and his military, the IDF, was reluctant to do this too. It won’t be easy to take Gaza City. Hamas won’t go quietly, no doubt about that. But they know this is a necessity, and they are waiting for the day when there is a peaceful civilian government there. They’ll still have security from Israel, but they could turn governance of this place back over to the people who live there without the risk of terror to Israel.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more analysis of the DOJ investigation into AG Letitia James, further discussion of the situation unfolding in Israel as well as in Russia and Ukraine, and much more.
