Vice President Kamala Harris “irked” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to Axios, with her Gaza comments after their private meeting. Netanyahu believes that Harris’ comments will make negotiations for a ceasefire and freeing the hostages much more difficult. Today, he is also meeting with former President Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago.

It’s fair to say his concerns are valid, given Harris’ comments.

Harris said that she talked to Netanyahu about her “serious concern” about the collateral damage and suffering of Gazan civilians.

“With over 2 million people facing high levels of food insecurity, and half a million people facing catastrophic levels of acute food insecurity. What has happened in Gaza over the past nine months is devastating; the images of dead children and desperate, hungry people fleeing for safety, sometimes displaced for the second, third or fourth time,” she said.

Harris addressed the groups who have been calling for a cease-fire and peace in the Middle East, and pushed for a two-state solution saying “I see you, I hear you.”

“Let us all condemn terrorism and violence. Let us all do what we can to prevent the suffering of innocent civilians. And let us condemn antisemitism, Islamophobia and hate of any kind. And let us work to unite our country,” she said.

While Harris gave platitudes about Israel’s right to exist and defend itself, she immediately pivoted to the typical far-Left talking points about Gaza. What kind of message does it send to the pro-Hamas protesters who just burned U.S. flags and defaced monuments with graffiti saying, “Hamas is coming”? She makes it sound like America supports any pushback against Israel’s fight in Gaza. And that doesn’t even take into account the message Harris sent by refusing to preside over Netanyahu’s joint address to Congress – choosing to go to a sorority event instead.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell joined us in the studio today and commented on Harris’ anti-Israel statement:

She’s reading every line, and it’s been scripted for her by [National Security Advisor] Jake Sullivan. . . .  Look, it’s a low bar. I’m glad that she actually knows that she’s talking about Israel as opposed to North Korea and South Korea that she keeps confusing. This is an incredibly low bar. No one is going to believe that she can bring the two sides together. It is pathetic how weak she is. I’d like to see her first interview without a teleprompter talking about the Middle East or Latin America or Iran. Let’s give her a little test, and the media need to do their job.

Harris has a lot to prove when it comes to her understanding of foreign policy. So far, she’s not off to a good start with upsetting PM Netanyahu.

We all know Israel’s goal in the war is to defend itself. They want to rescue the remaining hostages and remove the remaining Hamas terrorists in Gaza. And now we hear that the Palestinian Authority has reached a “unity” government deal with Hamas. Shocker, right?

America must stand by Israel in its fight. The ACLJ will never cease supporting our greatest ally in the Middle East, even if the Biden-Harris Administration won’t. In a major move, the ICC (International Criminal Court), which outrageously sought an arrest warrant for Netanyahu, granted the ACLJ’s request to file an amicus brief before the ICC in defense of Israel. We will file the brief in days, and it could be the biggest legal action the ACLJ has ever taken to defend Israel.

We also have a big announcement in a case that’s been ongoing for over a year. If you remember, two elderly pro-lifer advocates were savagely almost beaten to death by a pro-abortion supporter outside a Planned Parenthood clinic in Baltimore. The attacker escaped, and the Baltimore Police Department could not locate him.

We sprang into action after hearing about this horrific attack. We worked with local law enforcement and widely shared the video that captured the attack. We are able to announce that authorities just informed our clients that the suspect has been arrested. Justice is now within reach. We will keep you updated with future details.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of VP Harris’ concerning comments about Israel’s fight to defend itself. We also celebrated the breakthrough in our defense of the pro-life advocates.
