In a long-standing tradition that honors those who have served our country courageously, the American flag is precisely folded into a star-covered triangle and presented to the grieving family. Each fold has a sacred meaning, including references to God and our religious heritage. In an age of war, where our brave military men and women have been asked to pay the ultimate sacrifice, it comes as a stinging slap in the face to grieving families and the memory of our heroes to have this honor revoked by a heckling few. We must demand this highest and most sacred tradition be protected by our Commander-in-Chief. Our military heroes deserve nothing less. Please read the form carefully and declare your membership with the ACLJ by signing our online Petition to Protect Military Funerals.
Petition to Protect Military Funerals
The Honorable President George W. Bush
The Veterans Administration
As a freedom-loving citizen and member of the American Center for Law and Justice, I urge you to stand for our fallen heroes. In a time of war, our courageous soldiers, grieving families, and time-honored military traditions should never fall into question or debate. I respectfully request that military funerals be given the utmost protection by our Commander-in-Chief. Please rescind the ban and ensure that both the oral and written explanation of the flag-folding ceremony be given to our nation's grieving families. Our military heroes deserve nothing less.
