Using fear and intimidation, President Obama refuses to confirm that the Social Security checks — that seniors depend on — will be sent out unless the debt ceiling is raised by August 2nd. Nor will he confirm that active duty military personnel will receive their paychecks unless the debt ceiling is raised.
Mr. President, your scare tactics are reckless and shameful. Once again, the House must lead, since the White House will not. The ACLJ is calling on the House leadership to vote on a plan that prioritizes spending, eliminates tax increases, and protects our seniors and troops regardless of what happens with the debt ceiling debate.
Bottom line: There is sufficient money in the U.S. Treasury to pay those bills. Add your name to our Petition to Protect Seniors and Our Troops today!
PETITION TO PROTECT SENIORS AND OUR TROOPS
To: Speaker of the House John Boehner
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi
As a concerned citizen, I’m calling on you to take immediate and meaningful action on behalf of America’s seniors and active duty military families.
Political gamesmanship does not get the job done. Answer President Obama’s intimidation tactics with a spending prioritization bill that prevents the Treasury Department from wasteful spending and tax increases while withholding Social Security payments, Medicare, and paychecks to our active duty military families.
