President Trump just signed a momentous Executive order (“Eradicating Anti-Christian Bias”) to end the Deep State’s weaponization of the federal government against Christians. The ACLJ applauds Trump’s initiative.

In honor of Trump’s protecting Christians from bias, here are the top five unlawful attacks on Christians that his Executive order is designed to stop.

5) Unjust Prosecution of Pro-Life Advocates

Just days after taking office, President Trump issued pardons for 23 pro-life advocates who were imprisoned after the Biden DOJ secured unjust convictions.

This news resonated with me personally because six of them were convicted just a few miles outside my home in Nashville. If they can target and convict pro-life advocates in the Bible Belt, then they can do it anywhere.

The ACLJ is currently defending a pro-life advocate who was unjustly prosecuted for sharing his lifesaving message outside an abortion clinic in Ohio. The ACLJ's lawyers won’t rest until they secure justice.

4) Unlawful Attacks on Christian Charities/Churches

Trump’s Executive order referenced “more than 100 attacks” that far-Left radicals perpetrated against churches, charities, and pro-life pregnancy centers. He condemned the fact that the “Biden Department of Justice largely ignored” the violence. His Administration will not turn a blind eye to such attacks.

The ACLJ recently filed an amicus brief at the U.S. Supreme Court after a state supreme court insanely ruled that a Catholic charity should lose its tax exemption status because serving the poor isn’t a “typical” religious act. We should hear a decision from the U.S. Supreme Court by the end of June.

Maybe the state supreme court should read James 1:27: “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction.” Serving the poor would certainly fall under that scriptural mandate.

3) FBI Classifying School Parents As “Threats”

The Biden DOJ went after Christian parents who objected to the sexually explicit content being propagated by radical school boards. Parents who voiced their concerns about attacks on Judeo-Christian values were labeled as “domestic terrorists” by AG Merrick Garland and followed by the FBI. (The ACLJ is representing FBI Special Agent Garret O’Boyle, who blew the whistle on the unlawful targeting of school parents and pro-life advocates.)

The ACLJ is also fighting back against anti-Christian content being foisted on our children. The ACLJ just filed three critical briefs in New York to have pornographic books removed from a school library.

I’m an English major and was required to read some coarse content in college. Yet my stomach turned when I read the sexually graphic passages mentioned in the briefs.

2) Unlawful Removal of Religious Accommodations

A far-too-common attack on Christians is unlawfully removing their religious accommodation to attend church. Even though Title VII of the Civil Rights Act protects employees’ right, it comes under fire time and time again.

One current ACLJ case involves the TSA cutting a federal worker’s pay for attending church. Our legal team sent a demand letter reminding the TSA of our client’s right to a religious accommodation. The TSA has continued to harass our client, and the ACLJ is appealing to the EEOC’s Office of Federal Operations.

Too often, Christians allow employers to abuse their right to religious accommodations. Christians must stand up for their right to worship on Sunday – we don’t live in Communist China.

1) Targeting of “Radical Traditionalist” Christians at Church

In what could be the most unlawful attack on religious liberty, the FBI placed undercover agents in churches to spy on Christians. Afterward, FBI Director Christopher Wray testified that a field office had gone rogue, but in actuality, field offices nationwide had undercover agents keeping tabs on congregations.

The agents were following the DOJ’s memo to target “radical traditionalist” Christians, classifying them as “an extremist threat.” The ACLJ promptly filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit regarding this dangerous memo.

Shouldn’t the FBI be going after true terrorist threats? Maybe the tragic New Year’s Day attack in New Orleans could have been avoided if the FBI had its priorities straight.

Defending Religious Liberty

Though a conservative White House is in place, Christians can’t rest on their laurels. Trump’s Executive order should lessen the federal government’s attacks on people of faith, but local governments and employers still attack religious liberty every day.

As long as the Constitution grants religious liberty, the ACLJ will fight to preserve this cornerstone of American democracy. Our lawyers won’t allow Christians to have their churches zoned out of existence, their Bible studies banned, and their jobs threatened for talking about God at work.

The ACLJ has been providing assistance and legal representation, at no cost or charge, to those who have been unfairly targeted for their Christian faith for decades. If your rights are being violated in this area, please contact us at ACLJ.org/HELP.
