Trump’s Trial To Begin on Super Tuesday Eve?

The political prosecution of former President Donald Trump is in full swing. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has conveniently requested that the trial for Trump’s fourth indictment begin one day before Super Tuesday.

Surely, the desired date is just a coincidence and not intentional election interference, right?

According to The Hill:

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) is requesting a March 4 start date in the trial of former President Trump and 18 co-defendants over an alleged plot to subvert the state’s 2020 election results and keep Trump in power.

Willis also proposed that their arraignments occur during the week of Sept. 5, writing that the defendants would be notified of their arraignment date at least five days in advance, according to a new court filing. She said dates would not conflict with Trump’s other legal matters. . . .

When announcing the charges Monday, Willis said her office would request a trial start date within the next six months and intended to try all 19 co-defendants together, signaling that her office would not waste time.

“We do want to move this case along,” she said.

Of all the dates on the calendar for 2024, the Georgia DA had to request the day before most states vote in the presidential election primary? The March 4 date reeks of sheer politics. To suggest otherwise is laughable.

Also, I bet Willis really does “want to move this case along.” Should anyone be surprised that she wants to simultaneously try the other 18 co-defendants with Trump in a complex RICO case in six months? Doing so will create an absolute circus – the exact image the Deep State wants in voters’ minds going into Super Tuesday.

The chance remains that the judge assigned to the case will shoot down this trial date request. We certainly hope that the court will ensure that a fair trial process occurs. At the least, the DA can make the tiniest attempt not to make this trial a circus.

And is this really the best strategy by the Left to derail Trump’s campaign for the White House? With each additional indictment levied against Trump, the poll numbers for Trump continue to rise. Each indictment is a shot in the arm that ramps up Trump’s support as more and more Americans recognize the Deep State’s obvious piling on.

In other news, a federal judge temporarily blocked an Illinois law that allowed Pregnancy Resource Centers (PRCs) to be frivolously sued. ACLJ Senior Counsel CeCe Heil joined the show to discuss this win for the pro-life movement.

Illinois recently passed a law going after PRCs by amending the state’s Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. If a PRC promoted a different message from abortion radicals or was even located next door to a Planned Parenthood facility, then it could be sued.

Yet Judge Iain Johnston of the Northern District of Illinois declared this law to be “both stupid and very likely unconstitutional” and put an injunction on the law. Here’s what he said:

It is stupid because its own supporter admitted it was unneeded and was unsupported by evidence when challenged. . . . It is likely unconstitutional because it is a blatant example of government taking the side of whose speech is sanctionable and whose speech is immunized - on the very same subject no less.

SB 1909 is likely classic content and viewpoint discrimination prohibited by the First Amendment.

This injunction is a huge win for the pro-life movement in Illinois. The right to free speech applies to all Americans, regardless of one’s views on the sanctity of human life. We applaud this judge for stepping in to defend the unborn in Illinois. Finally, as noted, this was a Trump-appointed judge – further illustrating the importance of a President’s judicial appointments.
