This is the latest installment in a year-end series looking back at a few of the hundreds of victories by the ACLJ in 2011.

A group of prolife advocates wanted to distribute prolife literature ahead of an election in Pittsburgh. However, a Pittsburgh city ordinance effectively prohibited leafleting in an attempt to prevent littering. We went to federal court to protect the free speech rights of these prolife advocates, and won. Early this year, a federal judge granted an injunction preventing this law from being enforced.

But, we didn’t stop there. We continued to press the city counsel to repeal this law restricting free speech. In August of this year, the Pittsburgh City Counsel voted to repeal this law and the Mayor signed it. Now, prolife advocates are free to communicate their lifesaving message without fear of fine or penalty.

To help the ACLJ continue to have the resources we need to make these victories possible and continue these fights, please consider making a donation to the ACLJ through our year-end Matching Challenge. Your gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar though the end of the year.
