Price Controls, Abortion, Open Borders, and Outright Socialism Define Kamala Harris’ Policies

This week, the Democrat National Convention (DNC) has given Americans a window into what the future of America would look like if it is determined by the radical progressive agenda that currently dominates one of America’s major political parties.  We should look past the politics of the moment and examine just what the pillars of this agenda are and what they portend for our country.

As I wrote last week, price controls, massive government spending, and outright socialism define Vice President Kamala Harris’ economic strategy.  Regardless of your political views, this promises a terrible future for all Americans.  Historically, price controls on essential goods like foods have led to shortages because they increase demand while restricting production.  Higher and higher government spending only drives higher inflation and burdens future generations with massive debt – something we have already seen happen in the past four years.  Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried because a centrally controlled economy will always fall victim to human error and corruption, while a free market made up of millions of individual, free decision-makers will always result in outcomes that are more fair, more innovative, and more prosperous.  A freshman in college, like the ones I get to speak to regularly at Liberty University, would know this after taking an introductory course in economics, and it is irresponsible and dangerous to be proposing these policies on a national scale. Americans cannot afford the economic agenda touted at the DNC this week.

If you had visited the DNC at Chicago’s United Center this week, you would have seen an RV parked outside housing a “mobile health clinic,” paid for and staffed by Planned Parenthood.  The purpose of this clinic? To offer abortion pills and even vasectomies to the convention’s attendees.  Looking past politics, you really could not have dreamed up a more accurate illustration of what the far Left has come to stand for – the enthusiastic championing of policies that are anti-family.  This attitude goes all the way to the top, too.  VP Harris herself has, in the past, refused to name a single limit on abortion that she supports and has called such restrictions “immoral.”  On seeing this display at the DNC, Americans should understand that the movement she represents is absolutely radical on the issue of life, and in no way represents the best interests of American families.

On the issue of immigration, speakers at the DNC promised more of what we’ve seen under President Biden: continuing to keep our border wide open while demonizing anyone who disagrees.  Every reasonable person supports legal immigration that our nation can control – but this is not what Biden and Harris have delivered over their four years in office.  Instead, they’ve allowed roughly 10 million illegal immigrants into our country, along with hundreds of criminals on the FBI watch list.  Though some speakers at the DNC advocated for better border policies, Americans should see through this lie.  The truth is that President Biden put Kamala Harris in charge of the Administration’s approach to the border in their first year in office together, and since then she has presided over a complete disaster on our southern border because she and the far-Left movement she represents don’t even believe in borders. That’s dangerous for all Americans.

Finally, we have national security.  Consider how different the world looks now from when the DNC last gathered four years ago.  We have a war in Ukraine, an enriched Iran is wreaking havoc across the Middle East, and the Chinese Communist Party is bolder than ever.  Foreign policy was barely mentioned at the DNC this week, and for good reason: Biden and Harris’ weak leadership has made the world a far more dangerous place.

This coming Monday will mark three years since 13 American soldiers were killed at Abbey Gate in Afghanistan during the Biden Administration’s failed withdrawal – and remember, Kamala Harris claimed that she was the “last person in the room” with Biden before that decision was made.  That embarrassing, shameful retreat sent a clear signal to America’s adversaries around the world that they could do as they pleased without fearing American reprisal.

The progressive Left does not believe in the goodness of America, doubts our ability to achieve good outcomes on the global stage, and thinks our power should be reserved for fighting things like climate change.
