Unexpected Tip Leads FBI to Charlie Kirk’s Alleged Shooter

“We got him.”
That’s the word from Utah Governor Spencer Cox on the arrest of suspected assassin Tyler Robinson.
Less than 48 hours after the horrific assassination of beloved conservative figure and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, the accused killer is now in custody. While we’re all still processing the shocking murder, we’re relieved to hear a suspect is in custody. And we heard it first, surprisingly, from President Trump himself.
As reported by The New York Post:
President Trump announced early Friday that a suspect in Charlie Kirk’s assassination was turned in by his father — with the suspect identified as Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old Utah student who allegedly wrote “Hey fascist! Catch!” on a bullet.
“I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” during a live interview at the cable giant’s Manhattan studio, saying he’d heard just minutes before his 8 a.m. interview.
“Somebody who was very close to him turned him in,” the president said, then revealing it was the suspect’s dad, Matt, who relayed it through “a minister who was involved with law enforcement.”
While I’d say we’re still a thousand miles from anything I’d call good news, it is a positive step to know the monster that committed this heinous crime seems to be off the streets and in custody. The report goes on to explain how the accused killer’s own father turned him in to the authorities after spotting the suspect’s photo:
Tyler was turned in by his dad, a now-retired veteran law enforcement officer, who confronted him after seeing photos of the killer — with the son saying he would rather kill himself then hand himself in, sources told The Post.
Discord chats with his roommate also showed him discussing a rifle hidden in a towel near where it was found soon after Kirk’s assassination.
This was the first successful political assassination in my lifetime. We don’t ever want this to become the norm in America. Many other countries experience this level of violence. Even in allegedly democratic countries, politicians and political influencers get assassinated far too regularly.
America must never become the sort of country where you can’t have a political debate, even a heated one, without the fear of violence. People who live in fear of exposing their true opinions will submit to a corrupt system altogether. Do we want to be North Korea or Iran? We must correct course, and we must do it quickly.
My hope is that Charlie’s impact on the hundreds of thousands of young people he reached will continue to grow and ripple across our country. He was bringing about real social change that benefited everyone, not just special interest factions. And he was assassinated because of it.
Now, thankfully, Tyler Robinson is in custody. We’re grateful he was apprehended alive. Now he will be investigated, stand trial, and be forced to answer for this cowardly act of pure evil. And we will be watching very closely.
Charlie Kirk is now with God. And while the breath has left his body, his voice is only growing louder. This sick act is already backfiring on extremists on the Left who celebrated his passing yesterday. Just look at social media. His supporters are upset, and they’re no longer hiding their feelings. While some continue to say awful, inhuman things online, I’ve seen many more, some who passionately disagreed with his message, who are condemning the murder, condemning those celebrating, and offering prayers for Charlie’s family, because they know there’s a time for politics and a time for being human.
No one should be killed for their opinions. That is the essence of free speech. And if they take it from one of us, they can take it from any of us. It’s time everyone realized that fact. Tyler Robinson thought he could decide who could speak and who couldn’t. And now he’ll face justice, including a possible death sentence himself.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more discussion of the arrest of this suspect in the awful murder of Charlie Kirk and what happens next in the legal process. We also had an update on a major case we’re engaged in to defeat Planned Parenthood and save innocent babies.
