So another news day and another Trump lawsuit – except this time, he’s the one filing suit. President Donald Trump is suing the Biden-Harris Department of Justice for $100 million over claims that the 2022 FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago (prompted by the classified documents case to which Special Counsel Jack Smith was later appointed) was “political persecution.”

The Justice Department now has 180 days to respond. If neither party can reach an agreement, the case will go to federal court in Florida.

If you’ll remember, the classified documents case was rocky from the start. Several questionable tactics occurred during the government’s retrieval of the documents from Mar-a-Lago. For instance, the FBI ordered the CCTV servers turned off while its agents raided Trump’s home.

Also, Smith admitted that his legal team had mishandled the very documents that they accused President Trump of mishandling, spurring an investigation to be launched by House Judiciary Committee Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-4). Within that investigation came the revelation that Smith’s legal team also possibly committed witness tampering.

Then Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the case after ruling that Smith had been unconstitutionally appointed. Smith was neither nominated by President Biden nor confirmed by the Senate, rendering his appointment unconstitutional.

So President Trump is now going on the offensive against the DOJ. And Trump’s aggressive move against the Deep State comes on the heels of Jack Smith requesting more time to prepare his election interference case against President Trump, which was just granted. We’ll see what happens next.

In other news, the Kamala Harris campaign is finally starting to talk about policy. However, she is blatantly plagiarizing Trump’s plan to remove taxation on tips for those in hospitality and the service industry. It was a popular plan among voters for several months, and now Harris is championing the cause as her own.

Don’t forget that President Biden is already going after taxes on transactions on cash apps like Venmo and PayPal that were over $600. Biden’s new 87,000 IRS agents are out in full force to collect taxes on the American public. The Biden-Harris campaign is not the “no new taxes” group.

Also, a new campaign ad claims that California Attorney General Harris was a “border-state prosecutor” who shut down the border during her time in office. The ad also praises Harris’ support for the “toughest border control bill in decades” while Vice President (a bill that didn’t pass) and her promise to curb fentanyl and human trafficking if elected President.

Yet Americans know the truth. The border is one of the biggest issues during this election cycle because of the open border policies of the Biden-Harris Administration. The Harris campaign is simply stealing conservative talking points from the Trump campaign and hiding from her actual record.

The ACLJ also had a recent religious liberty victory. Our client, a California resident, hosted a Bible study that gathered to watch church on TV. Then the City of Manhattan Beach told him that the religious assembly in his home was a zoning issue. He was told that he could have “100 people over every week to watch Lord of the Rings” but not to discuss the Bible.

On our client’s behalf, we asked the city to provide written assurances that it would not interfere with our client’s attempts to gather for Bible studies and other religious purposes at home. The city then finally relented and agreed “to clarify the City’s position that typically sized home gatherings, whether for a bible study, seder or other religious purposes, or for non-religious purposes are permitted in the ‘RS’ Residential Single-Family zone.”

During this time, our client was also denied the right to reserve a public facility to hold worship services. So we sent a demand letter explaining how the city was unconstitutionally violating our client’s right to public worship.

After receiving no response to our demand letter, we began to move forward with a lawsuit against the city.  However, the city of Manhattan Beach then passed an amendment allowing the use of public facilities for religious gatherings. You can check out the city’s website here and see all the updated language that protects the residents’ religious liberty. So in the end, we were able to protect our client’s religious liberty both at home and in public facilities.
