Looks like some far-Left politicians now want to say, Yes, we said that, but don’t hold us responsible for our words.

Last week we told you how six far-Left lawmakers released a coordinated video on X, urging U.S. servicemen and women to defy orders that they deem “illegal.” Now the whole situation is turning into a full-on constitutional mess, and the lawmakers who triggered it are flailing, trying to do damage control.

One of the lawmakers featured in the video, Sen. Elissa Slotkin (MI), admitted to ABC News’ Martha Raddatz that she is “not aware of things that are illegal” regarding the Trump Administration’s ordered strikes in the Caribbean and Venezuela. It seems like these far-Left lawmakers are unable to cogently defend their controversial video, which certainly smells like an attempt to undermine the White House and the U.S. military.

As reported by Fox News:

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, D-Mich., admitted she was “not aware” of whether President Donald Trump has issued any illegal orders to the military following backlash to a controversial video she posted last week.

Slotkin faced questions during an interview Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” about the recent reaction to a social media video she and five other Democratic lawmakers made encouraging service members to “refuse illegal orders.”

“Do you believe President Trump has issued any illegal orders?” host Martha Raddatz asked.

“To my knowledge, I am not aware of things that are illegal, but certainly there are some legal gymnastics that are going on with these Caribbean strikes and everything related to Venezuela,” Slotkin responded.

Raddatz pressed for specific accusations, and Slotkin pointed to her concerns over Trump deploying National Guard troops across the country.

“When you look at these videos coming out of places like Chicago, it makes me incredibly nervous that we are about to see people in law enforcement, people in uniform, military get nervous, get stressed, shoot at American civilians,” Slotkin said.

“It is a very, very stressful situation for these law enforcement [officers] and for the communities on the ground. So it was basically a warning to say if you are asked to do something, particularly against American citizens, you have the ability to go to your [Judge Advocate General] JAG officer and push back,” the lawmaker added.

So, no evidence. And yet the lawmakers’ video presented it as a clear and present danger. Now they’re claiming it was just a vague, hypothetical warning. It seems obvious that this was an effort to sow seeds of doubt concerning the President.

Even Martha Raddatz recognized that the video implied that Slotkin and her colleagues believed the President had given illegal orders – despite their inability to name any. The Left believes you don’t need to supply evidence – just drum up an imaginary threat and make a big production out of it, much like their recent “No Kings” protests. And much like its lawfare against President Trump.

Here’s the problem: Every service member already knows they’re not obligated to carry out an illegal order. That’s part of their training and their code. And it’s not just the insinuation that the President wants them to break the law, which is bad enough. It’s the effect. When you tell the military to consider disobeying orders – without naming a single unlawful act – you undermine morale, create doubt, and destabilize the chain of command.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more discussion of the fallout for these six far-Left lawmakers who posted their unusual video message. We were also joined by U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Ric Grenell, who shared his reaction to the video and compared it to the Left’s behavior during the Russia hoax. Plus, we also touched on a surprising new name announcing his entrance into the California governor’s race, as well as new rumblings in the Russia-Ukraine negotiations that could signal a potential shift on the world stage.
