Secretary Rubio Enlists World Leaders To Fight Far-Left Extremists

Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned that far-Left terrorism “can no longer be denied,” and world leaders must combat the rising threat globally.
As reported by Fox News:
Secretary of State Marco Rubio declared Thursday that violent far-left political terrorism “can no longer be denied” as he urged more than 60 countries gathered in Washington to treat the threat as a global counterterrorism priority.
Speaking at the opening of a State Department ministerial attended by roughly 65 foreign delegations, Rubio said governments had spent too long overlooking what he described as a resurgence of transnational far-left extremist violence and called for greater international cooperation to counter it.
Rubio described radical leftism as “a poisonous resentment cloaked in the language of equality and justice.” . . .
A foreign terrorist organization designation criminalizes providing material support to the group, enables the U.S. government to freeze assets under its jurisdiction and blocks members from entering the United States. . . .
Administration officials said the ministerial is the culmination of an eight-month diplomatic effort to convince foreign governments that violent far-left extremist networks have become a growing cross-border threat requiring greater international coordination.
This gathering was a ministerial, which is when the State Department brings together diplomats from other nations to expand a partnership to work together on a global issue. The United States is seeking international cooperation in intelligence sharing so they can all work together to combat this global threat.
Rubio was also referencing domestic political violence. Consider the assassination of a healthcare CEO in the middle of Midtown Manhattan, multiple assassination attempts against President Trump, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, or those arrested for planning a deadly attack against the UFC event, and the list goes on.
These aren’t just one-offs. These are multiple instances of premeditated, coordinated terrorism in our country. But the threat is not limited to the United States, as the Secretary of State pointed out:
You are here because your political leaders are being attacked and stabbed and shot in your streets, because your businesses have been bombed, because your railways have been sabotaged, because your police officers have been beaten and burned. You are here because this is real, and it is getting worse, and it can no longer be denied, and it can no longer be ignored because it is time to crush this evil forever.
Just days ago, a former member of the British Parliament was murdered in her home. The suspect in custody isa 28-year-old white British man. This victim, Ann Widdecombe, was a very conservative pro-life member of Parliament, which is already very rare in England these days – since abortion is rarely even a political topic there.
She was murdered in cold blood. It wasn’t some personal dispute or a robbery gone wrong. This was a targeted killing of a member of Parliament because she was conservative – and the killer didn’t like that.
Sec. Rubio said this issue is important globally. We’re seeing a “poison” infecting not just politics in America, but all around the world. It is an extremist ideology that is leading to violence. Even the language being used, including by the mainstream media, has moved the needle so far and been so dehumanizing that people are saying the only thing they can do is resort to violence. And these violent acts are becoming normalized.
Think of how many people have already all but forgotten about the attempt at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. There was a time when sanity prevailed, and a failed attack on the President would be something that resonated in everyone’s mind for a long time.
These days, it’s merely the latest attack in a long list. And that is unacceptable. Which is why Sec. Rubio is enlisting the rest of the world to take a stand and stop the trend now.
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more discussion of Sec. Rubio’s call to other world leaders to work with the U.S. to combat the rising tide of far-Left terror that is now infecting their countries as well.
