Oprah Winfrey interviewed Vice President Kamala Harris at a “Unite for America” fundraiser featuring several celebrities. During the event, Kamala went off script and shocked everyone by saying that if someone breaks into her house, they are “getting shot.” She then quipped, “Probably should not have said that,” and that her staff could deal with the fallout.

Remember, this was an official campaign event, so Kamala mostly got friendly questions that were likely pre-approved. It was not a journalistic interview by any means. Yet even in this kind of setting, Kamala resorted to pre-rehearsed answers about her history as a prosecutor, much like she did in the debate against Trump.

However, after Oprah admitted to being shocked by Kamala’s statement in the debate that she and her husband are gun owners, Kamala gave a truly bizarre answer that wasn’t on the script, and then she oddly cackled about people getting shot. Being forced to defend yourself and your family against a home intruder isn’t a subject to laugh about.

Her answer reeks of hypocrisy, especially considering her extensive history of condemning gun violence and calling for the banning of guns. For Kamala, it’s guns for me but not for thee.

Further, let’s talk about VP Harris’ total lack of accountability amid this blunder. By going off script and then saying her team could deal with it, she is foreshadowing how she’ll govern. In other words, her staff will clean up any messes if she says something inappropriate or enacts an unpopular policy. The lack of accountability is very concerning.

Former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell reacted to Kamala Harris’ strange response about guns:

She is the Pander-in-Chief. She’ll change her talking point to say, I’m gonna shoot somebody who comes into my home. And then . . . her base is not happy, [so] she says, oh, I probably shouldn’t have said that. This is absolutely typical of Kamala Harris and Joe Biden. They want to pander when it’s two months before an election to pretend like they’re not against fracking anymore. But the reality is that Kamala has spent her entire life trying to deny and mock gun ownership. . . . If we had a real press corps, somebody would say, when did you get the gun? Where did you go through training? There’s a whole bunch of questions that we need to be asking.

You can’t laugh about people dying and then condemn responsible gun owners who have firearms for self-defense.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi also said something bizarre when she claimed that the Democrat Party had an open primary (which Kamala Harris won) after President Biden stepped down. Everyone knows the opposite is true.

ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison responded to Pelosi’s claims:

So Pelosi is simply the embodiment of anti-democracy. The Democrats like to claim that they are the protectors of democracy – when it is exactly the opposite. They essentially locked out RFK Jr. . . . The Democrats have basically adopted a strategy of trying to remove third-party parties from the ballot. . . . Listening to Pelosi, who has a master’s degree in lying, . . . is very disturbing because she is lying so brazenly. There wasn’t an open democratic process.

Speaking of election interference, we have an unfortunate update in our fight at the U.S. Supreme Court to defend election integrity. As you know, we began representing the Green Party after the Democrat Party had Jill Stein removed from the Nevada presidential ballot.

This week we filed an important brief explaining why it was unconstitutional for the Green Party to be removed and were awaiting Circuit Justice Elena Kagan’s response to our brief. She decided not to move forward with our case; thus, the appeal is now over.

Though we didn’t win this particular case, we will not stop fighting in other battleground states for election integrity. We must restore faith in our republic and electoral process. Sign our petition to join our fight to preserve election integrity.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of VP Harris’ joking about killing an intruder if they came into her home. ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo joined the broadcast to discuss Israel’s attack on Beirut.
