President Trump Used Decoy Plane To Escape Iran Plot

President Donald Trump boarded Air Force One as a diversion last month after learning of an Iranian plot to take him out. The Secret Service then used a catering truck to move the President to a smaller U.S. military aircraft to return from the NATO Summit in Turkey in July.

As reported by AP News:

President Donald Trump secretly flew out of last month’s NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, on an alternate military aircraft while the White House made it appear that the Republican president was flying on Air Force One, according to a report published by The Washington Post on Monday.

The Post said the operation was prompted by an Iranian assassination threat against Trump. The ruse was carried out as journalists and some White House staff members were led to believe they were on the same plane as the president as he began his journey back to Washington from the annual gathering of NATO country leaders. . . .

Trump had flown to the summit in a new Qatari-gifted and retrofitted red, white and navy blue jet. But ahead of departing Turkey, he said he would fly partway home on an older-model baby blue Air Force One plane instead.

The president at the time said the new luxury jet was being flown out ahead of his departure from Ankara to give some U.S. troops based in eastern England a chance to check out the new Air Force One.

In Ankara, Trump boarded the old Air Force One jumbo jet in view of television cameras ahead of the plane flying to Royal Air Force Mildenhall in the United Kingdom.

However, according to the Post report, after boarding the legacy Air Force One jet, he was secretly shuttled minutes later to a smaller plane — an Air Force C-32A — via an airport catering truck typically used to load meals and other supplies. Trump flew to Mildenhall on that smaller jet.

You may remember the strange scene a few weeks ago when President Trump was leaving the NATO summit in Turkey and at the last minute, there was a switch involving the plane he was supposed to take.

Well, it turns out that President Trump wasn’t actually on the Air Force One that he boarded for the cameras. He boarded the plane normally but was then quietly moved out through the back of the aircraft and then a catering truck took him to a much smaller plane. The President flew the first leg of his journey aboard that aircraft while Air Force One continued on as planned. The elaborate switch was due to a credible Iranian threat against the President.

It sounds like something out of a fictional political thriller, but according to reports, this really went down. In reality, we don’t know how often maneuvers like this happen. We’ve already witnessed multiple attempts of violence against the President. Distracting the press while sneaking the President out in an undercover vehicle could be extremely unusual, or it could be a typical security precaution that happens more often than the public ever knows about.

Air Force One is generally considered one of the safest ways for the President to travel, because of the incredible security and defensive capabilities built into the aircraft. So why, then, move the President off Air Force One, given that it is so secure? Apparently, in this particular situation, it was determined that the biggest security advantage was making sure nobody knew exactly where he was.

The ruse was not only elaborate, but clearly effective, given that the public is just finding out now.

Clearly, the people responsible for protecting the President believed there was a serious enough threat from Iran that they needed to keep his actual location secret from everyone.
