The situation with Iran continues to escalate, and now it’s being reported that President Donald Trump has rushed to the Situation Room to make the “final determination” on his next move as tension is at an all-time high.

The Trump Administration insists that Iran’s nuclear program must cease, the Strait of Hormuz must remain open, and no mines/or bombs remain in the Strait.

As reported:

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday he would meet with his advisers in the White House Situation Room to make a “final determination” on whether to move forward with a deal to extend the ceasefire with Iran.

Trump confirmed the high-level talks a day after U.S. and Iranian negotiators reportedly reached a tentative agreement to extend the fragile ceasefire by 60 days and begin new talks on Iran’s nuclear program. The emerging memorandum of understanding still requires approval from Trump and Iran’s top leadership.

He listed what a potential deal would need to include: Iran agreeing not to develop a nuclear weapon, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of any sea mines, the lifting of the U.S. blockade on Iran and the removal and destruction by the U.S. of Iran’s highly enriched uranium. . . .

Vice President JD Vance said Thursday night that there was a tentative agreement, but that it was unclear whether Trump would approve it. “It’s hard to say exactly when or if the president’s going to sign,” Vance told reporters, adding: “We’re going back and forth on a couple of language points.”

Iran did not immediately confirm a deal. Earlier Friday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on Washington to abandon what he described as “excessive” demands in negotiations to end the war.

We had a whole different show planned, and at the last second, President Trump put out a statement that changed our plans. He took to Truth Social, stating his demands for Iran:

Iran must agree that they will never have a Nuclear Weapon or Bomb. The Hormuz Strait must be immediately open, no tolls, for unrestricted shipping traffic, in both directions. All water mines (bombs), if any, will be terminated (we have removed, through detonation, numerous such mines with our great underwater mine sweepers. Iran will complete the immediate removal and/or detonation of any mines that are left, which will not be many!). Ships caught in the Strait due to our amazing and unprecedented Naval Blockade, which will now be lifted, may start the process of “heading home!” Say HELLO to your wives, husbands, parents, and families from me, your favorite President!

The enriched material, sometimes referred to as “Nuclear Dust,” which is buried deep underground with virtually collapsed mountains, caused by our powerful B2 Bomber attack 11 months ago, sitting on top of it, will be unearthed by the United States (which, it is agreed, is the only Country, along with China, with the mechanical capability of doing so!), in close coordination and conjunction with the Islamic Republic of Iran, plus the International Atomic Energy Agency, and DESTROYED. No money will be exchanged, until further notice. Other items, of far less importance, have been agreed to. I will be meeting now, in the Situation Room, to make a final determination.

Once again, it feels like we’ve reached a major turning point with Iran. Yesterday, we discussed reports from Axios and others that the Iranians and the U.S. had agreed to this “memorandum of understanding,” and that it was all now up to President Trump. It appears that Trump is meeting with his national security team to make a final decision about that agreement.

The President’s statement said ships caught in the Strait of Hormuz may start the process of heading home. That alone would be major news, as the economy has taken a pretty big hit. Americans are feeling the pain at the pump. President Trump knows that we all want to see some movement happening.

So it feels like we may arrive at a deal any day, but then again, the term “final determination” could also be that the war continues, or worse, escalates. It may also simply be a distraction or a negotiation tactic. After all, President Trump has always touted himself as the master at making a deal.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more analysis of President Trump’s statement regarding his “final determination” and what that might look like. We were also joined by U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Ric Grenell to discuss the Los Angeles mayoral race, which has garnered national attention, as well as his unique insight into negotiations with Iran.
