President Trump Declares Iran Deal DEAD

President Donald Trump announced that the ceasefire between Iran and the United States is “over.” After Iran attacked three ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the U.S. military hit 80 Iranian targets. The President also asserted that he will probably hit Iran “hard” again tonight.
As reported by CNBC:
President Donald Trump on Wednesday said Washington’s ceasefire with Iran is over, and threatened more military action, after the two sides clashed overnight. . . .
“I think it’s over,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question about the status of that deal during an appearance with NATO chief Mark Rutte.
“I don’t want to deal with them anymore … as far as I’m concerned, it’s over,” he added.
Trump said that Washington’s delegation wanted to negotiate a peace deal, but that he saw it as “a waste of time dealing with” the Iranian side.
In another meeting with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy later Wednesday, Trump said that the U.S. will “very probably” attack Iran “hard again tonight.”
“I’ll give him a little warning. We’re going to hit them hard tonight, but we’ll see how it all works out,” Trump said.
U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who was also attending the meeting, confirmed that “tonight, if we need to, on your order, Mr. President, we will hit even more and even deeper” into Iran.
Trump added that the U.S. may also reimpose its naval blockade against Iranian ports near the Strait of Hormuz, the vital oil route that has been the flashpoint for the latest hostilities.
“We may put it back, the blockade, and it’ll only be a blockade for Iran,” Trump said.
Well, this time it’s coming directly from President Trump’s mouth – he believes that the Iran MOU is now DOA. I wish I could say it’s a total surprise, but let’s be honest, this is classic Iran. Agree to a deal, then violate it, going right back to the same nefarious behavior they promised to stop – this time striking some ships in the Strait of Hormuz. And of course, in response, the U.S. military took action, hitting more than 80 targets last night.
What is the endgame here for Iran? Even other Gulf nations called out the Iranians. Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, from which the ships originated, have condemned the attacks.
Peace seemed to be in sight, or at least a possibility, and Iran decided to hit more ships. It’s unclear why they would do such a thing – completely invalidating the agreement they signed – other than to look strong. Although I’m not sure they appear strong so much as they do foolish – or fatalistic. It’s like the Iranians just can’t help themselves from striking, even at their own peril.
As my brother, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow, said on the show:
This is what we were concerned about from the beginning, with any kind of Memorandum of Understanding with Iran, and trying to get to a point where you can actually even have an actual agreement. A full agreement with Iran is impossible when you have an end- times-led regime whose whole basis of their version of Shia Islam is to bring about the end times by strike, by a major kind of action, and the biggest action we know of in the world, still today, is nuclear war. So nuclear war attacks against Israel and then the “Great Satan,” the United States of America, and as we’ve seen through this conflict, any of its allies, including its other Muslim allies.
Iran was also holding a state funeral for the Ayatollah, as they had waited for things to settle down so they could get it done without creating another high-profile target for the United States. Maybe that stirred up some emotions among its military leadership.
However, what does President Trump foresee happening now? Obviously, he no longer believes we have a deal with Iran. We are once again at the point where the ceasefire has been violated, and the MOU is now effectively invalid.
So what do we do now? What is the prerogative of America at this point?
It’s fair to say the President made his position fairly clear – he’s tired of dealing with them. And Trump did say he would hit them “hard tonight.” Are we looking at another full-scale war with Iran?
Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more analysis of President Trump’s statements that the MOU is essentially dead and that he anticipates resuming military strikes on Iran as soon as tonight.
