Operation Midnight Hammer: President Trump Wasn’t Bluffing

Just hours after President Trump said he’d take two weeks to decide what to do about Iran, he dropped the Midnight Hammer, decisively destroying Iran’s nuclear weapon facilities and signaling strong U.S. support for Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Trump’s statement after the attack and the subsequent press briefing were very impressive in detailing the mission. The bombing was sudden, precise, and extremely successful. It truly displayed the might of the American military.

Obviously, I have some concerns about a possible war with Iran, and as of right now, we are technically not at war after the U.S. took out three uranium enrichment sites. At the same time, I have respect for the Christians and conservatives who are concerned about a wider war breaking out in the Middle East. However, Trump had been consistent for years that Iran could not have nuclear capabilities – and he took action to ensure it never happens.

I think you’re going to be hard-pressed to find many Members of Congress bemoaning the virtues of the Iranian regime. As Trump posted on Truth Social, maybe it is time for a “Regime Change” in Iran, where the citizens – many of whom are really good people – can reclaim their country.

My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, reacted to Operation Midnight Hammer:

The scope and nature of this [mission] were very significant. And that is number one: The President, acting under Article II authority as the Commander in Chief, authorized a military strike that had been well thought out for over a decade and well executed. And a huge thank you to our men and women in the military who were involved in this. What a tremendous victory for the U.S. military. But also, this is a world-changing moment . . . because [we have] the real potential now for the first time, certainly in [our] lifetimes, . . . that we could see a total reshaping of the Middle East. We saw the beginning of that with the Abraham Accords; we've seen the continued security cooperation between Middle Eastern countries, including Israel. But the Arab world, for the most part, wanted to see an end to the Iranian regime. Nuclear threat was not something that anyone in the region would tolerate, but it took the Israelis, initially, and the U.S., ultimately, to conclude a military exercise that literally makes the world safer for my grandchildren.

On Saturday night, my dad declared the airstrikes a “Churchill moment” for President Trump. Trump had the courage to step up and prevent Iran from achieving nuclear capabilities, which would have been catastrophic for the world.

We pray that no Americans suffer retaliation from Iran. Yet retaliation could come from sleeper cells in the U.S., many of which crossed the border during the Biden Administration. In fact, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced that such a threat of retaliation has “never been higher.

And as we were on air, Iran launched six missiles at the U.S. Embassy in Qatar. The Trump Administration will likely respond in some fashion. We will keep you updated on this developing story.

In the meantime, the ACLJ is fully committed to defending Israel amid the ongoing conflict. Last week, we sent urgent legal demand letters to the United Nations Secretary-General, the U.N. Security Council, and other U.N. bodies, demanding immediate action against Iran for the deliberate missile attack on an Israeli hospital.

Our legal team has documented clear violations of international law and is calling for Iran to be referred to the International Criminal Court for war crimes. We won’t rest until the international world holds Iran accountable for its heinous attack.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the rousing military success of Operation Midnight Hammer. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell discussed the potential fallout in the Middle East. Also, my brother, ACLJ Executive Director Jordan Sekulow, joined Europe’s reaction to Operation Midnight Hammer.
