The U.S. Supreme Court just made a huge move in favor of the Trump Administration. Chief Justice John Roberts ordered an “administrative stay” in a midnight deadline to send $2 billion to USAID. As we’ve pointed out multiple times, USAID has become a slush fund for leftist causes.

Let’s briefly recap to see how the Supreme Court needed to get involved. If you’ll remember, Trump’s State Department was sued in the district court in Washington, D.C., resulting in a judge putting a temporary restraining order on the Trump funding freeze. Yesterday, the White House filed an emergency appeal to this midnight deadline.

Going forward, the opposing party has until noon tomorrow to respond to the emergency application filed by the Trump Administration, and then we will see if the case gets further reviewed by all of the Supreme Court Justices – if they take it into consideration for an oral argument. They also could just let this “administrative stay” stand – there is no expiration date. We could have a final decision rather quickly.

So this is now the first action by the Trump Administration that has reached the highest Court in the land, and so far, the Supreme Court has ruled favorably for Trump. The Supreme Court put a “pause” on the “pause” to freeze funding, if you will.

ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director of Policy Harry Hutchison elaborated further:

As you correctly point out, this is a temporary order by Justice Roberts, and more likely than not, the full Court will need to weigh in with respect to whether or not this order will be sustained over time. But in the meantime, the American people should be aware of this particular contest. It's a contest between unelected bureaucratic power vis-à-vis the elected representatives of the American people. And so the Democrats made a huge case during the last election, claiming that they favored a democracy. Well, if you are focused on democracy, President Trump was elected to do precisely what he is now doing. In other words, he has been elected to cut trans operas in Colombia and DEI spending in Ireland and Serbia. And so, I think this is a very, very important decision.

Many in our audience have asked how these lower court judges have the power to block the President of the United States, since he has been elected by the people and has Executive power. Unfortunately, many activist judges believe they have the power to overrule the Executive Branch because they have a superior moral compass.

In general, most progressive elites believe themselves to be much smarter than the average working class. Many of the judges appointed by President Biden maintain this philosophy and believe they should overrule the desires of the American public.

Fortunately, we have three branches of government to provide checks and balances. So far, the far Left’s attempts to derail the White House’s mission to cut wasteful government spending has been held in check.

We also have big news from Attorney General Pam Bondi, who announced that files related to Jeffrey Epstein’s flight logs will be released today. She admitted that “it’s pretty sick what that man did, along with his co-defendant” to over 250 victims.

You might be wondering why we’re discussing the release of such sordid documents. Remember that we are at a pivotal time in rehabilitating the American people’s trust in the Department of Justice. Epstein’s case was a high-profile one, and he got a sweetheart deal after being convicted of heinous crimes, leading many to question why only two people were convicted (including his co-defendant, Ghislaine Maxwell).

Further, the DOJ refused to give details on all those involved in Epstein and Maxwell’s grisly operation. Well, why should this information be kept a secret? We hope that the release of the files sheds light on what led to Epstein’s sweetheart deal, thereby providing more transparency in the DOJ.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of Chief Justice John Roberts putting a pause on the midnight deadline to send $2 billion to USAID. ACLJ Senior Counsel Cece Heil shared about her upcoming appearance at the U.N. Human Rights Council on behalf of suffering Christians.
