Mamdani Booed Off Stage at Heated New York Event

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani was booed off the stage at an event that celebrated the NYPD. Meanwhile, anti-police protests staged by socialists in Madison, Wisconsin, continue.

As reported by The New York Post:

Mayor Zohran Mamdani was battered by boos before he quickly exited the stage in Staten Island Tuesday night at one of the Big Apple’s pro-police celebrations. . . .

His appearance drew loud jeers and a tirade of profanities from attendees as the Democratic socialist made his way up to the podium — with some shouting him down to leave, social media videos show.

The carefully polished Mamdani — who is known for soaking up the public spotlight and delivering bloated speeches — embarrassingly spoke for less than a minute, wishing Staten Islanders a “Happy Night Out Against Crime” before being whisked off to the side while flashing a wide grin.

Many Staten Islanders can be seen showing their disapproval by snubbing Mamdani and giving him the “thumbs down” as he was viciously heckled and escorted away.

When you see Mamdani live making extremely Leftist statements, it does not reflect the overall feeling of every New Yorker. And that couldn’t have been more evident than last night, as a group of New Yorkers made their voices very clear.

Mayor Mamdani was at an NYPD event on Staten Island, and while many of us, especially in the middle and southern parts of the country, think of New York City as liberal, those familiar with New York and the five boroughs probably know Staten Island is traditionally a bit more conservative. It only makes sense that Mamdani got booed, then, since he is an unabashed socialist who has openly criticized the NYPD for past heinous offenses. It’s surprising that he showed up at a pro-police event at all.

When you watch the video of his attempted speech, you can’t even hear what he was saying due to the boos and criticisms of some of the residents of Staten Island.

This should serve as a good reminder that there are real, hardworking people in New York, and they don’t align with everything you see Mamdani saying. And they’re willing to stand up and speak their piece. He had to know he was walking into potentially unwelcoming territory.

Meanwhile in Madison, Wisconsin, anti-police protests organized by local socialist organizations have reportedly resulted in “clashes with police, street fires and blocked intersections.”

According to Fox News:

Among the most prominent groups backing the protests are the Madison chapter of the openly communist Party for Socialism and Liberation, Freedom Inc., a Madison-based “social justice” nonprofit, and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, a Marxist-Leninist political organization, all of which have publicly backed the protests.

These protests began in reaction to a police-involved shooting in Madison. Demonstrators have declared an “Autonomous Zone,” shutting down a portion of the city and trying to keep the police out.

This coming Tuesday, Wisconsin has its primary for governor, and the apparent frontrunner for the Democrat nomination is Francesca Hong, a former chef turned Democrat Socialist of America (DSA) candidate. Hong is very progressive and has said the police “exist to uphold white supremacy,” and she not only believes in defunding the police but abolishing them altogether.

Not surprisingly, this week things got so out of control from people fighting inside the “Autonomous Zone” that the police had to force their way in to stop the violence.

Rather than thank the cops for intervening, gubernatorial candidate Hong took to X with her reaction:

I am deeply disappointed that the situation ended with police intervention and arrests rather than the voluntary, community-led resolution that so many of us had worked toward.

The city must be transparent about what happened this morning, including the circumstances surrounding every arrest and the tactics used by law enforcement. Officials must treat impacted individuals with care and ensure that personal belongings and memorial materials are protected and returned.

Clearly, the pro-police/anti-police debate isn’t going away anytime soon, and it will be a central issue during the midterms.
