Iran Gives President Trump a Shocking Ultimatum

Iran just gave President Donald Trump a brazen ultimatum, telling the Trump Administration that the United States has 30 days to agree to a 14-point plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, or else.

Now the whole world awaits Trump’s response to Iran’s demands. Meanwhile, two U.S. ships reportedly crossed the Strait of Hormuz, prompting Iran to threaten force if any others try it again.

In other words, more tough talk coming out of Iran. Will this lead to the resumption of military action in Iran?

The Iranians’ 14-point proposal to end the war, of course, includes no mention of Iran’s nuclear program, which has always been the key sticking point for the Trump Administration. It’s the primary reason that this entire conflict began.

But under Iran’s proposed terms, both sides will lift the blockade on the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States will withdraw its forces from the Middle East, end all hostilities in the region, including Israel and Lebanon – which are currently in a ceasefire as well – and lift all sanctions on Iran. The Iranians seem to think they have the upper hand.

The majority of the sanctions imposed on Iran are because of its nuclear program. And there are other issues, including ongoing human rights abuses, and supporting and funding terrorist organizations. This comes after a confusing few weeks, including the President admitting they had to cancel some planned meetings because it was unclear who we were even meeting with.

It does feel like President Trump might be laying out proverbial breadcrumbs that indicate we’re about to return to action. There have been reports that he’s frustrated at the inaction on both sides. Either get back to the operations or get to the table. Clearly, the Iranians have taken some sort of step back with this latest proposal, also giving a 30-day deadline –  attempting to dictate the timeline to the United States.

And Iran is brazenly targeting ships belonging to other countries, including a tanker belonging to the UAE, as well as a South Korean ship. At the same time, Scott Bessent has stated that the U.S. has “absolute control” of the Strait of Hormuz.

Now back here at home, Democrats are telling the President, Hey, your 60 days under the War Powers Act are up – time to come before Congress or we’d better see this wrapping up now.

Again, a lot of people thought this whole conflict would be wrapped up very quickly. Now, in the grand scheme of things, it has only been roughly two months. We’re not talking about a long-term engagement historically, but there is hesitancy heading into midterms.

As elections inch closer, you could see politicians – even conservatives – start to peel off. Some may decide that this conflict is not worth it.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included more analysis of the latest demands from Iran and whether we’re heading toward a renewed military conflict. We were also joined by Special Presidential Envoy Ric Grenell to discuss the news that the U.S. will be making major changes to its military presence in Germany.
