House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries Reveals Disturbing Plan for Supreme Court

Yesterday at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Atlanta, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries unveiled a radical plan for “dramatic Supreme Court reform” if the Democrats retake the House of Representatives after the 2026 midterm elections.

Jeffries, who clearly has his sights set on a promotion to House majority leader, stated:

In my view, dramatic Supreme Court reform is necessary. And I’m going to leave it to the Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, led by Jamie Raskin, who will be the next chair. The American people give us the ability to govern on their behalf in the majority.

And there’s a variety of different options that are on the table. And I think that we can’t foreclose any single one of them. The Supreme Court, the conservative Right-wing majority on the Supreme Court has become, you know, basically a subsidiary of the MAGA Republican Party.

That’s what that decision in Callais said to me. And then they turned around when a court in Alabama, right, a three-judge panel in Alabama, found that the new map that Alabama Republicans wanted to put in place that would gut the second black opportunity to elect district, the district that Shomari Figures now holds. That three-judge panel said that it was an attack, a racially motivated attack on black voters in Alabama.

One of those judges, I believe, was appointed by Ronald Reagan. And the other two were appointed by Donald Trump. If a three-judge federal panel appointed by Republican judges, two of whom were appointed by the current President, could conclude that that was a racially motivated map attacking black voters, and the Supreme Court steps in and overturns that decision, it tells me that they don’t have the credibility for us to move forward, acting like everything is okay and the status quo is acceptable.

It’s not. And we’re going to push for dramatic reform of the Supreme Court.

We say it all the time, but elections have consequences. One of those big consequences that we’ve been preaching about for over 35 years is the Supreme Court because the President nominates Justices whenever there’s a vacancy. They still have to be confirmed by the Senate, of course, but right now conservatives control the Senate, which clearly makes Jeffries and the Left nervous.

In fairness, Jeffries did claim there are a number of “options that are on the table” for what they could do with the Supreme Court – if they gain control of Congress. But the bottom line is, they don’t like when conservatives win cases, and they’re willing to do whatever they can to make sure that doesn’t happen anymore.

We’ve heard about the Left’s idea of expanding the Supreme Court, and changing it so that Justices don’t have lifetime appointments. According to Jeffries, the Supreme Court has now become “a subsidiary of the MAGA Republican Party.” It’s an absurd notion, but it plays into everything the Left  is trying to push right now.

The Supreme Court has made plenty of decisions recently that have not gone in favor of the Trump Administration, but the Left doesn’t want you to believe that. It wouldn’t fit their narrative. They don’t want you to think that there’s any even-handedness happening in today’sCourt, or it would contradict all of their “No Kings” nonsense.

The Left is taking a page right out of the DSA playbook. Eliminate the checks and balances that our Founders put forward, and remake our government in their image by tearing down the very things that protect American civil liberties. And that apparently includes a Supreme Court that will rubber-stamp all their radical liberal policies and shut down anything from conservatives.
