Fox News Joins White House Boycott

Fox News is joining mainstream media outlets in combating a White House ban on CNN, MS Now, and Politico. The media (including ABC, Fox News, CNN, NBC, and CBS) is suspending TV pool coverage of President Trump.

As reported by The Hill:

Major TV networks that rotate covering the president for wider media distribution say they will not do so moving forward after President Trump banned three media outlets from the White House last week.

Fox News Media, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News and CNN responded to the ban in a rare joint statement, saying “the public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government.”

“No administration should restrict a news organization because it objects to its reporting,” the outlets added.

Now three of the networks – CNN, MS Now, and Politico – are banding together to sue President Trump over the ban.

President Trump took to Truth Social to explain that his actions were not an attack against the freedom of the press:

The White House is not instituting an assault on the Free Press, something which I cherish. It is instituting an assault on the FAKE NEWS, something that has grown like Cancer in our beloved United States of America. It is corrupt, purposeful, pervasive, fully coordinated, and totally out of control. It is a threat to our National Security, and must be stopped, NOW!

Now it’s nothing new for a President to initiate some restrictions on the press. As many have pointed out, former President Barack Obama attempted to block some of Fox News’ access. But a sweeping restriction like this is certainly unprecedented and raises eyebrows.

I know there are many in our audience who are in favor of this move. And I completely understand where they are coming from. There is certainly part of me that has that feeling that after all the lies they’ve told, the mainstream media is finally getting what it deserves. But we also have to step back and pose the question: If this were Barack Obama or Joe Biden, how would you feel?

When it comes to politics, you must always consider the “shoe on the other foot” scenario. What if the next President is someone you don’t like and they decide to lock out Fox News?

Knowing President Trump, this could be another strategic move that will change tomorrow, once he’s gotten the media’s attention. For now, we can only wait and see.
