Devastating Newsom Interview UNCOVERED

In a shocking find, a video has just resurfaced of California Governor Gavin Newsom’s wife radically attacking Christians. In a 2022 interview with a local news show, Jennifer Siebel Newsom blamed “Evangelical conservative[s]” for hindering social progress.

Here’s what she said:

The folks on the far Right, they’re living in this silo, this Evangelical conservative silo that ultimately is just pulling us back as a country to a time and a place where we don’t deserve to be, and we’re not going to be. Because, honestly, young women and fathers of daughters are awake now, and they’re woke, and they’re not going to let us go back.

So clearly, Newsom’s wife is at odds with Evangelical Christians and conservatives. It’s also eye-opening how at odds she is with many within her state.

What do I mean by that? California is the ACLJ’s largest donor base. That means a vast number of Evangelicals and conservatives in that state support our work and oppose the far-Left radicalism of the Newsoms.

So Jennifer is completely out of touch with millions within her own state. And if the number is that high in California, how many does she oppose nationally? And how will that affect her husband’s eventual presidential bid? Radical sentiments like hers may play well with the far-Left base in the primary.

As our ACLJ members and Champions know, we are currently engaged in an ongoing U.S. Supreme Court battle against Gov. Newsom. And today is a big deadline in our legal battle against Newsom.

First, a reminder of how we got here: Together with our co-counsel at Advocates for Faith and Freedom, the ACLJ filed a petition for certiorari at the U.S. Supreme Court on behalf of Calvary Chapel San Jose and Pastor Mike McClure. 

This case challenges more than $1.2 million in fines imposed on the church by Leftist government officials for holding worship services mask-free during California’s COVID lockdowns – fines levied solely because they chose to follow their faith rather than California Governor Gavin Newsom’s and Santa Clara County’s ever-shifting rules on how, when, and where worship could occur.

The Calvary Chapel case presents a perfect storm of constitutional violations that strike at the very heart of our First Amendment protections.

Further, the Supreme Court’s recent jurisprudence from Tandon v. Newsom has crystallized a clear standard: Government regulations violate the Free Exercise Clause when they treat “any comparable secular activity more favorably than religious exercise.”  The Santa Clara County orders present an almost textbook example of such discrimination.

Moreover, the Eighth Amendment prohibits excessive fines, yet the county sought to impose over $1.2 million in penalties on a church for exercising its religious beliefs. The fines continued to accrue based on the church’s refusal to promise compliance with court orders that appellate courts later ruled were unconstitutional.

The escalating fine structure – doubling daily to $5,000 – was designed to financially destroy the church’s ability to operate. Unlike traditional penalties for completed violations, these fines continued indefinitely until the church promised future compliance with requirements that included unconstitutional provisions. This transforms a penalty into an ongoing government weapon against religious exercise.

These violations represent exactly the type of government overreach the First Amendment was designed to prevent. When officials can create general rules riddled with secular exemptions, enforce them through questionable procedures, and impose escalating financial penalties until churches surrender constitutional rights, religious liberty becomes meaningless.

The weaponization of government against Calvary should concern every American who values religious liberty – and that’s why we’re taking this case to the U.S. Supreme Court.

And that brings me back to today’s pivotal deadline. The U.S. Supreme Court ordered  Newsom’s legal team to respond to our cert petition.
