A massive social media outage (involving Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Threads, among others) transpired on Super Tuesday – was this a cyberattack or even an attempt at election interference?

CBS News reports on the suspicious social media crash:

Facebook and Instagram users are reporting widespread issues, with many saying they were booted out of the social media platforms and are now unable to log back in.

DownDetector, a site that monitors internet service outages, said it has received more than 500,000 reports of problems by U.S. Facebook users and more than 70,000 reported problems with Instagram as of about 10:30 a.m. ET. The most frequently reported problems were with logging into the Facebook app and issues with the Instagram app, according to DownDetector. . . .

Facebook users from across the globe reported that they were unable to log in to the service, ranging from Egypt to Oklahoma, according to DownDetector. Some people on social media expressed concern that their accounts had been hacked because they had been booted out of the service and were unable to get back in with their passwords.

This massive disruption occurred in the last few hours – on one of the biggest election days in the country. Americans use social media to give updates on voting and where the polls are located. Even celebrities like Taylor Swift were urging people to vote on Super Tuesday via social media. But all that came to a screeching halt.

Even if nothing nefarious truly happened, we can’t underestimate the impact that the lack of social media has on sharing information. We promote our radio broadcast live on social media, so even we felt the wide-ranging effect.

Will election campaigns learn from this outage about the need for a contingency plan if social media crashes again on election days? For example, what if cell phone services had been down? My son, Logan Sekulow, commented that if he had lost cell phone service and his GPS on the way to the polling place, he probably would have turned around and gone home. How many other Americans would have done the same?

Also, the far Left is having an epic meltdown over the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to keep President Donald Trump on the ballot. Many are accusing the Supreme Court Justices of being politicized for rejecting the argument that a state can use the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause to disqualify a presidential candidate.

The hysteria from the Left is out of control. To see the attacks on the liberal Justices is especially eye-opening. For example, Keith Olbermann posted: “The Supreme Court has betrayed democracy. Its members including Jackson, Kagan and Sotomayor have proved themselves inept at reading comprehension. And collectively the ‘court’ has shown itself to be corrupt and illegitimate. It must be dissolved.”

But at the end of the day, the Justices followed the Constitution. They wrote: “We conclude that States may disqualify persons holding or attempting to hold state office. But States have no power under the Constitution to enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices, especially the Presidency.”

Even the liberal judges concurred: “Allowing Colorado to [remove President Trump from the ballot] would, we agree, create a chaotic state-by-state patchwork, at odds with our Nation’s federalism principles. That is enough to resolve this case.”

All nine Justices rightly recognized that the Founding Fathers didn’t want state-by-state chaos during an election and upheld the Constitution as written. We applaud their decision, and they should not be receiving disgusting attacks from the Left.

The ACLJ litigated in several states to stop the far Left’s attempt to deny you the right to vote for the candidate of your choice. Our vital work requires immense resources. We just launched our Life & Liberty Drive, and every donation is automatically doubled. Give today to support our efforts to stop the far Left’s attempt at election interference.

Today’s Sekulow broadcast included a full analysis of the massive social media outage on Super Tuesday and the far Left’s extreme reaction to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision regarding the 14th Amendment. Tristan Leavitt from Empower Oversight joined the show to discuss an update on the ACLJ’s defense of whistleblower FBI Special Agent Garret O’Boyle. Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo reacted to the news of an alleged assassination plot against him and other U.S. officials.
