Radio Recap: Terror Strikes New Zealand

Today all of our hearts are broken after waking up to awful news that deadly terror struck peaceful worshippers as they prayed in New Zealand.

On today’s broadcast, we discussed the horrible attack on a Christchurch, NZ mosque by a terrorist gunman, killing of at least 49 innocent Muslims.

The ACLJ fervently condemns this disgusting violence and hatred toward religious groups, no matter their faith. Christian, Muslim, or Jew; it does not matter. These were innocent people peacefully practicing their faith. It is unconscionable and unacceptable.

This is terrorism. It is an attack on faith. As one listener stated: “Terrorism is terrorism, no matter who carries it out.” The ACLJ cannot agree more with this sentiment.

Jordan said it best: “Though we may not share their faith, no people, anywhere around the world, should ever have to live in fear of going to their place of worship, to pray or to take part in their worship. And we must condemn this to the fullest extent.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu tweeted a statement of compassion and condolences:

“Israel mourns the wanton murder of innocent worshippers in Christchurch and condemns the brazen act of terror in New Zealand. Israel sends its condolences to the bereaved families and its heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery to the wounded.”

Even Israel, which has been ravaged by Islamic terrorism, understands that terrorism is evil and unacceptable no matter who it targets. We will continue to monitor the story and keep you updated.

We also discussed last night’s Senate vote on the resolution of disapproval on the President’s declaration of a national emergency to free up funds to build a wall along our southern border. As we expected, the resolution was passed as 12 Republicans crossed the aisle to side with Democrats. However now the resolution will be sent to President Trump, who has already promised it will be vetoed, and the national emergency will stand, because we do indeed have an emergency at our door.
