Can congress send something to the President that he is willing to sign and end this government shutdown? Do you think he should sign anything that does not result in fully funding the wall along our southern border?

Today on the show, we discussed President Trump’s invitation to members of the House and Senate to attend a border security briefing at the White House.

This invitation comes just one day before Democrats are slated to take control of the House.

For obvious security reasons, media and reporters were not invited, as sensitive classified information will be discussed.

The point is clear that this is not just another press conference or photo op.

An unsecure border is a threat to national security. It’s likely the White House plans to lay out all the facts and intelligence regarding threats to our border, much of which are likely distressing.

Democrats have already released a plan, including two bills to fully fund and re-open the government. That plan does NOT include the $5 billion the President is demanding for border security, including the wall.

The White House has stated any deal that doesn’t include the wall is a “non-starter.”

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has said the Senate will not send anything to the President that they know he won’t sign.

There has to be a middle ground here that will ensure additional border security measures are put in place, including the wall, and will get the full government back to work.

The President has continued to state he will not abandon the wall. However he did tweet to House Dems that he is willing to “make a deal.”
