Radio Recap: Dueling Plans to Open the Government
There are now dueling plans to end the shutdown in Washington.
Today on the show we discussed how two separate plans to end the government shutdown – one by Democrats and one from the Republicans – are being considered in the Senate.
It seems likely both plans will fail tomorrow, as neither is likely to clear Congress and be sent to the President’s desk. But if there is a positive sign to be taken from this situation, at least we’re finally seeing some action on Capitol Hill.
I would like to see bipartisan immigration reform, but right now that too seems unlikely if the Democrats continue to dig in their heels. Even if President Trump put DACA, or Green Cards for undocumented immigrants on the table – things the Left says it wants – I’m still not sure the Democrats would be open to negotiating.
Democrats seem set on ignoring the humanitarian crisis on our border in order to avoid actually working with President Trump on a solution.
We also had Cece Heil, Senior Counsel for the ACLJ, in-studio to update everyone on the plight of Pastor John Cao, a U.S. permanent resident who has been wrongfully convicted and imprisoned in China for 2 years.
As we’ve told you before, Pastor Cao is currently locked in a crowded cell and his health is failing. He is not allowed to communicate with his family, and significant health issues have not been address medically. We are representing Pastor Cao’s family and working to win his freedom.
