AN EXPENSIVE HOBBY: UFO Might Have Been $12 Balloon

Believe it or not, one of the mysterious unidentified flying objects that actually was shot down by the Biden Administration – not to be confused with the Chinese spy balloon that they knew about for days and allowed to hover across the United States before taking any action – might have actually been a harmless civilian hobbyist’s balloon.

As reported by the New York Post:

One of the UFOs shot down last weekend by the US Air Force with a $400,000 missile may have simply been a $12 balloon belonging to an Illinois enthusiast club, a report said.

The Northern Illinois Bottlecap Balloon Brigade told Aviation Week on Thursday that it fears one of its diligently tracked gasbags that recently went missing was the mystery object taken out by the military over Canada on Saturday.

So China launched a balloon, flew it across the ocean into U.S. airspace, and watched it traverse most of the country, likely collecting intelligence to send back to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), before we did anything. But we quickly scrambled to spend almost half-a-million dollars to shoot down what was essentially a harmless toy.

But this is the Biden Administration, so is it even that surprising anymore? We look so foolish in front of the rest of the world right now. But what is much worse, and dangerous, is how weak we appear. As ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo wrote in a new article on ACLJ.org:

This embarrassment actually created far more risk in the future. Weakness is provocative – and displays of weakness only invite aggression and further attacks on our sovereignty. The American people deserve better answers than what Team Biden has offered thus far.

It's truly mind-boggling. The world is mocking us right now. We’ve got toxic chemicals poisoning Americans in Ohio right now, but the Biden Administration is focused on shooting down harmless civilian balloons at an absurd price tag. And it allowed a spy balloon to travel essentially from Chinese soil – which we now know they were aware of from the beginning – through Montana and all the way to South Carolina. And they tried to distract us with talk of aliens and UFOs. It’s embarrassing.

We also spoke with Rev. Pat Mahoney, who was recently threatened with arrest for protesting on a Washington, D.C., sidewalk outside of the Chinese Embassy. According to Rev. Mahoney, the Secret Service told him that the sidewalk was not public, but Chinese property. That’s absurd and completely false. Our ACLJ legal team is hard at work, preparing to send a legal letter to the Secret Service explaining that demonstrators are allowed to peacefully protest on the sidewalk. But think about that for a moment: The U.S. Secret Service sided with China over an American citizen committing no crime. And sadly, many people would have believed them and walked away. The Biden Administration needs to worry about Americans more than it worries about hurting the CCP’s feelings.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast includes further discussion about these balloons and the way the Biden Administration continues to make the U.S. look weak and ripe for provocation. It has to stop. We’re also joined by ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy Ric Grenell.
